A tip I learned from the comment section of an Our Upcycled Life video when making a clay bowl is to lay a piece of cling/saran wrap as flat as possible on a table and place the rolled-out clay circle on it, making sure there are as few wrinkles as possible. Then lift the whole thing up by the saran wrap and then carefully place into a bowl to get the rounded bowl shape. This helps reduce the number of wrinkles underneath the bowl. My challenge with air dry clay is painting it, I always find acrylic paint peels off. I use the same Das brand of clay so I'm not sure if I need to use a high-end paint on it. But I like the things you made, it's always helpful to see how others work with clay no matter how many videos I've watched before, I always learn something new from new videos. Thanks for sharing.

@@FirstDayofHome Definitely will! 🙂 I hope this doesn’t come across the wrong way, but I grew up in the 80s when potpourri was everywhere. I’m curious-do you find that more people are using potpourri these days, or is it more about modernizing it to fit today’s styles and preferences? 🙂
@FirstDayofHome3 күн бұрын
@@vigatroiano8653 I grew up in the 80s too! Yes, it seems like everyone had potpourri in a dish back then. I think dried flowers in general have become popular again recently. This same recipe could be used for sachets or in a dish with a candle. I also see people adding new elements like dried orange slices and cinnamon sticks around the holidays. It looks pretty and smells incredible too.

@@FirstDayofHome 80s babies unite! Haha! 😂 I totally agree-dried flowers are definitely making a comeback in such creative ways. Another trend I’ve noticed is stovetop potpourri, which I’m planning to include in my store. It should be so much fun to try out, and I can’t wait to see how people enjoy it. 🙂

I think I applied the nose but didn't use enough slip (clay mixed with water) to keep it attached. I then reattached it later. I hope you enjoy sculpting!

between this gel which is the best please?
@FirstDayofHome7 күн бұрын
This brand is my favorite. It comes in different sizes depending on how many flowers you are drying. You can start with this size to test it out. Also, the gel can be reused multiple times as shown at the end of the video. amzn.to/4fksOgt

Do you use the hairspray after the flowers are dry? and how does it help to preserve?
@FirstDayofHome7 күн бұрын
I don't personally use hairspray, but you could try that if you want to try to preserve the color better. They also sell this spray that is supposed to help maintain the dried flowers longer by protecting them from UV rays, but I haven't personally tested it yet. amzn.to/4gHFrmQ

How long do these dried flowers last?
@FirstDayofHome7 күн бұрын
They could last many years. I suggest keeping them away from direct sunlight and moisture for the best results to prevent colors from fading. Over time, the colors may fade and take on a more vintage look, which I think can still look very beautiful.

How long before the flowers fade?
@FirstDayofHome15 күн бұрын
I found that the glossy Mod Podge had better results over time. A lot depends on the type of flowers and glue. I’d go with the glossy decoupage glue now that I’ve seen the jars over time. They could last a few years before fading, I think.

I’d love to try some this week but the DAS clay wouldn’t arrive on time, could I use crayola air dry clay instead? Do you have any experience using it vs this brand? Thanks!
@FirstDayofHome16 күн бұрын
Das is my favorite due to the texture, but if Crayola is all you can find, that will work as well. It tends to be a bit softer, so the details might not be as crisp, but you’ll still have fun. You can also find Das at a craft store if you live near one. Enjoy!
