I was wondering whether or not BD is aiding Shadow with those powers, while at the same time trying to control him. My theory is that since BD is likely Shadow's ultimate Boss for Generations, BD forces a corrupt power on Shadow. Shadow is then placed on a sort of Doom Timer () where he needs to locate and defeat BD before the corrupt powers take over him completely, turning Shadow into BD's puppet. I highly doubt we'll see him using these powers outside of this game after it's conclusion, so the powers must be tied to his story in more ways than just gameplay, hence my theory. Also, does that reflection on the ground at 4:30 look funky to anyone else?
