I’m not questioning your faith or your salvation. But, how can priests, or the pope be closer to God than an ordinary person? How can a priest or pope grant forgiveness of sins? How does saying hail Mary’s forgive sin? Where does it say any of these things in the Bible?
@SPXMobile2 ай бұрын
@@bigsquatch125 the priests and pope are not closer to God than ordinary people, but they have been given authority to forgive sin and dispense God’s mercy. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” John 20:21-23

We are no longer under the Mosaic law. The sabbath we are to keep is to rest in Jesus and what he did for us. Colossians 2:16 “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:” Paul went to great lengths to help the people understand they were no longer under the law of Moses. @SPXMobile lying birth of Jesus is in december...using a PAGAN holiday to celebrate. Having hall of fame Catholics called saints. When in fact...all people who believe in the trinity are saints. Instructing congregation to pray to saints. When scripture clearly states..no gods before thee. Praying to mother Mary. Who had nothing to do with the creation of the universe. PAGAN likeness of mythical gods and godesses to Represent Jesus, mother mary and God himself. Defying the 2nd commandment. Rosary is a hypnotic prayer....again defying scripture. Priest forbidden to Mary because of inheritance to the widow. Covered up sexual misbehavior with their priests. Calling a priest father....disrespecting the father of mankind and the universe. Must I go on.....

@@dalezegarelli5553Jesus spent 40 days in the dessert before beginning His public ministry. The Jews spent 40 years in the desert escaping from Egypt to the promised land. We spend 40 days in the desert preparing for the celebration of our Salvation won by Christ on the Cross. Finally, there is certainly value in praying for each other. If you asked me to pray for a particular intention, it is no different to ask a member of the body of Christ who is already in heaven to join us in prayer.

We all have a sinful nature - including this priest. We are all born with it since we’re all descendants of Adam and Eve. They broke God’s law therefore introducing sin into the world and their relationship then became broken with the Creator. Now because he is holy and can have no part with sin this effected Adam and Eve and the whole earth. This separated them from Him. So now the only way to be close to God and be right with Him is PERFECT holiness. Most would say “that’s impossible”. That is correct in and of ourselves (on our own). We can never achieve that because our best effort is like filthy rags to God. Therefore, that’s where Jesus Christ comes in. It is ONLY through Him and by Him that we can be seen as holy in God’s eyes because Jesus lived a PERFECT, sinless life. When we put our faith in his Son that holiness gets applied to us. So that when God looks at us He looks at us and sees His Son and sees us as ‘holy’ because His Son was holy. So in conclusion this priest is wrong. He said nothing about this and based on what he said, holiness is based upon one’s own self, one’s own doing. We need to pray for this priest.

I think you missed the most important thing I spoke in this video. We are called to lay down our entire lives to the Lord, to lay down everything before the Lord Jesus. Jesus does not block the Father’s view of me, rather I am grafted in to His body and adopted as God’s son through the waters of Baptism.

As some of the other comments say. This sounds like an unjust thing to request, and would be more likely to come from an evil being, such as the devil. Therefore, I would refuse. If it was god that requested it, to test me, then it would basically be a lie, as he does not actually want my son to be sacrificed. It would also torture me inside to think I must do it. What if I were to believe him in the first place, and then I were to see the lamb as a trick from the devil to prevent me from fulfilling God's will? There is too much trickery and pain going on, for it to come from what I believe an honest, mercyful, all-knowing, all-good being.
@SPXMobile6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the response. The question I propose is a reflection on the request documented in the book of Genesis that God asks of Abraham. My question is more about the reality that we are meant to love God more than the things he has given us. Much like he had given Isaac to Abraham, then demanded him back. So the question is legitimate, are we willing to give up even the good things that God has given us so that we can love God better?
@shuttlecrab6 ай бұрын
@@SPXMobile yeah, that makes sense. If we are to love God and put Him above all else, then letting go of what you have, for Him, is clearly the choice to make. I suppose my position is that, if God wants something, God can simply take it, and if we all belong to God, then it would not be Abraham's responsibility/place to offer him to God. In my humble opinion, making such a torturous and emotionally tormenting request of a beloved, faithful, God-fearing follower does not indicate to me that this God would be as merciful and loving as one may claim.
@SPXMobile6 ай бұрын
@@shuttlecrab I actually would agree, if God wants something, he would just take it. However, what he desires the most is our love. Love, if it is authentic, cannot be forced or just taken, it must be offered. So this is a question of our love for God.
@shuttlecrab6 ай бұрын
@SPXMobile Indeed, I agree that love can not be commanded... at least not by us mere mortals. But for our God, would it not be child's play? My rebuttal to how this relates to the story of Abraham, is that God is all-knowing, and therefore God would know that the love Abraham has for God is true, so much so that he would he is willing to sacrifice his son. With that in mind, I begin to think of God as cruel, deceptive and manipulative rather than loving.
@shuttlecrab6 ай бұрын
@@SPXMobile at the end of the day, I would still say that it does not paint a loving and merciful image of god in my mind.

I don’t believe there is any evidence that Abraham was mentally ill. More so, the question I proposed is not a literal question. The point is that we are meant to live God, not just what God gives us. So are you willing to let go of the parts of your life that you love the most so as to love God more perfectly, should He make such a request.
