Mark

In today's Gospel, Jesus encounters a deaf and mute man.
In the spiritual life, to lose our senses, is to be closed, meaning that we can't access or recognize God moving in our lives.
Jesus heals the man, saying "Ephphatha!"--that is, "Be opened!"
By living by God's law, we're able to recognize that the world is bigger than ourselves and opening ourselves up to the reality of God.
