great guest and great show on some hard love/ possible reality - mid pack team with some potential .. Two guards in the playoffs dont work when everyone is 6'.8" + in the east.. Hoping Jalen T is a dynamic piece and Mobley really breaks out.. Hoping the coach plays the most productive offense/defense lineups in crunch time and not the politically correct 'best' line-ups .. As a Cavs fans who no longer lives in Cleveland (but grew up there) , I see the cavs like John Fanta see's them. We can however be one player away from contending in the East if the able Wade is also healthy and hitting on all cylinders on both sides of the ball .. Hope he is having a good off season..

the team works amazing if we have another 6.9 guy and can play Garland off the bench wiht Strus at SG, this is the most spot on program ive seen, no homer material just real talk... if the cavs are somehow able to find a SF then we can go back to blowing teams out .. but Garland is on a bad contract and will never come off the bench to run the 2nd unit .. either that or bench him down the stretch for the longer more defensive line ups

With 3 guys at 6'0 6'1 and 6'5 those guys have to score more then they will give up which in the end is impossible in the playoffs team will shoot over easy in which the smaller guys must work so hard to just get the shot off

You talk about the Cavs need to change things all the time it’s the same thing over and over and over again. I think we need to find something else to talk about. you’re so negative about CAVS are doing, why are you covering the Team. Find a new one because it sounds like you don’t like anything about this one!

Okoro, LeVert, Jerome, or Niang should probably be traded for some more size on the wing and some draft picks. I would wait and see what Atkinson can do with Garland and if he has a bounce back year without any weird injuries. If Garland has another down year then look for trades.

U know the Warriors did a coaching change with an exact same Roster, but fired Mark Jackson for Steve Kerr. Coaching matters, philosophy matters, development matters, and role definition matters. Kerr put the ball in Draymond's hands not Jackson.

Andrew. Has it right. In addition, As difficult as it would be to accomplish, If garland came off the bench, It would make The cavaliers the team to beat in the east. With Wade, Allen and mobley playing together teams would be hard pressed to score a hundred points. Also, They could have their pick of who plays the number two slot. It could be merrill, Jason, Stress. O'coral Or whoever.

exactly , if Garland comes off the bench and we insert a SF with Strus @ SG, then we can blow teams out again like we were on our big run last season ... Let Garland dice-up the 2nd unit , he will kill people in that role .. There are two reasons it wont happen unfortunately

Bill Russel was 6'10" w/a 7'4" wingspan & in his prime only weighed about 5 more pounds than Mobley does today. The tics didn't really need him to do anything else other than defend and grab boards and the rest of the guys on the tics didn't really have a scoring talent like we do in Donovan Mitchell. Sam Jones was their go-to guy in the clutch but he was also a lockdown defender against the Lakers (some say that is the reason why Jerry West never won a championship against the Tics, because of Jones locking him down.) I believe if Mobley can bump up those blocks and rebound #s during the regular season, he can win most improved for sure even if he maintains 15ppg and maybe sprinkling in a handful of assists. Donovan in my opinion is the best SG in the league and he has been peaking every single year since being in the Wine & Gold. So yeah if he plays enough games he could win MVP. But like I commented on the previous pods...Cavs are going to need to impose their will on both ends all season long, and bring it every single night, especially against the best teams around the league.

With the Maxey/DG comment, you made me think of back when LeBron played for the Cavs and it felt like almost every single night opponents went so hard against the Cavs like it was their litmus test (regardless of travel and back to backs) to see if they were serious contenders. So I think we need to take what we learned from that Boston series, now that we are full strength, and I want to see us contend for the #1 or #2 spot in the East this year. No nights off unless its against the bottom of the barrel nights. I am circling the harder matchups on my schedule to judge how WE make a statement & where we stand going into the postseason!!! Go Cavs!!!

Cavs are not trading Okoro this summer for a 31 yr old dfs. Maybe at the deadline, if Ice is out of the rotation non factor, but not now. I think Altman playing the the tax line game with Okoro means very little about what Altman thinks about him. I feel they love Okoro, but are willing to risk losing him to UFA just to avoid paying him a lot right now, especially after overpaying the core, which for some damn reason apparently doesn't include him. Okoro has shown a lot of improvement whereas DG has regressed. Not sure how that DG contract is going to age if he has to stay second fiddle to Mitchell either. I think they trade Garland before its all over, and I wouldn't be surprised if Okoro is the starting 2 guard next to Mitchell as a result.

Maybe, but don't expect it to be right away, or that it will help in the playoffs without added players they don't have. They will be fine with their usual meh line ups, and then when a guard is hurt the rotations will be better. They think Kenny can manke that duo work in the playoffs, but they are small and you can't coach that away. Benching either might win a game or two, but without replacement level offense he loses benching one of them, it won't matter they had a tighter defense doing it.

10:35 that sigh...the same reason why I commented about Strus in yesterday's locked on fantasy hoops video. Is averaging 12 points during the regular season "good enough" from our starting small forward? The answer is no & for most teams across the league the answer is no too. And even worse, averaging 9 points in the postseason on 36 minutes per game from our starting 3 is just...9 freaking points! Where is the Strus from his Cavs debut dropping 27 points and 12 rebounds?! THAT IS THE STRUS WE NEED!

@dreamshakejake3736 12 күн бұрын
We didn’t set him up for success in the playoffs and even the regular season to some extent. Max’s role in Miami was coming off screens and shooting on the move, or just spot up shooting. JB refused to do anything besides high Pick and roll the last 4 szns and tried to use him as a ball handler and creator like DM and DG. That is not what the guy is comfortable with, obviously he’s gonna struggle. I do agree we need someone who’s an actual wing in our starting lineup, but I’m sorta hesitant to blame one of our harder working roll guys for what I believe to be schematic errors in coaching. I hope Kenny can run some pin downs for the guy or just find ways to get him open shots. He’s a better shooter than what he showed last yr imo

@@dreamshakejake3736 well said and I agree, but since this pod was about running back the same starting 5...and the goal next year is to make it to the ECF or beyond...I just don't see Strus as the best option for starting SF going into the postseason to face off against a team like Boston, Philly, or even the Knicks. That debut game against the Nets was amazing but maybe it was just a flash in the pan...or maybe he comes off the bench by the postseason and we end up acquiring a bigger wing like Cam Johnson. We will see.

If Garland and Mitchell move without the ball then that could overcome some of the issues with size. They could have Garland come off the bench but I don't think they'll do that because of the max contract. The real problem is Donnovan is too short to play the 2 but you don't want to get rid of him because of what he brings. He could play point but like he said in the video that might cause more problems down the road.

I agree with a lot but a few points: 1. I think the problem is both Garland and Mitchell want/are more effective with the ball in their hand and there is only one basketball. 2. It is less that Mitchell is too short for the 2 - he has a 2 guard's wingspan at 6-10 but that he is better defensively at the 1 than Garland and is not a bad PG and the CAVS should use Mobley as more of distributor out of the post, which means less pressure on the 1 to distribute the ball, which weakens Garland's biggest strength.
