Using my cell phone to open the Synology "photos" app and going to "places" to find that photo. The location is Lewis County, La Grange, Pierce Street, Missouri. Photo taken Sept. 25, 2023, while on a road trip with my brother.

@@blueyez619 People from different counties use different Live TV streams/apps. What kind of live TV app are you referring to?? Streaming, OTA, etc.?? If you are in a location that you can receive the OTA signals, that is the only way to watch live TV.

Been awhile since I use the TOX3, but it is fantastic, especially running the Slimbox OS. It does NOT support any form of Dolby Vision. It does support HDR 10 and HDR 10+ and all of the HD audio codecs. I don't use CeC, and not sure about AFR, been too long since I used it. For local media playback, CoreELEC is the way to go. As I recall, I installed the CoreELEC OS to the internal NAND, so no dual boot. But is is a fantastic media player for the price.

I have never tested the Slimbox firmware on this Dune box. I much prefer the Dune OS.

I don't know anything about 8k, but I have my Ugoos SK1 connected directly to my Vizio TV and use the TV's eARC connection to pass the HD audio codecs to my Yamaha AVR. My TV supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA, etc., passthrough using eARC.

I’d like to live stream a remote property using this or something similar. My question is the power button. If the power goes out and comes back on will that button need to be pushed or just fire back up ?

I am not absolutely certain, but I believe most PCs have a setting in the BIOS to turn the system back on after power outage.

I have some questions about this device: 1. Can this device play videos which coded with av1 (don't mix with avi) codec? 2. When you use a remote control, can you use a bluetooth headset or acoustic systems the same time? 3. As I understand the temperatures of this device on your video were in idle (not playing heavy 4k video during this measurement). What temperatures of the device will be if you play 4k video? Some people complying overheating the CPU of this device. Thanks.

I don't have any AV1 videos to check. Don't know about Bluetooth headset and AVR at the same time. Temps stayed low after playing a 4k Dolby Vision video, but it does not do any transcoding.

@@clarkss12 since you don’t have an 8k tv, how can you be sure it outputs 8k to an 8k display…I’ve bought some 8k players and once installed found out that 4k is the highest resolution they output…in your video t only showed a resolution of 4k can be selected in the menu…is there any chance you’d be testing this with an 8k display in the near future…I’m really trying to find a player that does 8k so I can take advantage of my 8k tv…thanks for your input…

@@davidpilsner3770 I am not planning on purchasing an 8k TV in the near future, so I will not confirm this device can actually play in 8k. You can test using this clip (drive.google.com/file/d/1uhbe-hUVwD1fb5dSYu4wfJlJca-bZXaY/view?usp=drive_link) (if p7 is supported, you should see a woman at about the 80 second mark). Another test is this clip (drive.google.com/file/d/1SJ8MEpOgb10LR6Py8zSiZQTp0-uaRV1p/view?usp=drive_link). If P7 is supported, the credits will look bright white; if not, gray and dull.

It plays "Back to the Future" without any issues. Here is the info for that video, it is using Profile 7 FEL, and it plays well without a conversion to profile 8. I am not getting into the conversation about "fake TV-led" profile 7. Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2094 App 4, Version 1, HDR10+ Profile B compatible If you notice, it has HDR10+ as the fallback codec. My Vizio TV supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, so if one of my boxes does not support DV, it falls back to the HDR10+.

@@clarkss12⁠Great! My Zidoo plays back DV profile 7 with FEL, but doesn’t use the FEL information, question is if it’s using the FEL layer or if it’s only able to support playback. Maybe that’s a topic for another video 😊

@@ZakariaBennani I really don't know. I also use the Ugoos AM6b+ running CoreELEC for true playback of DV with profile 7 FEL. However, I really can't see any difference is video quality. I am sure your Zidoo is better than this SK1.

I used to love the early Dune products before they went on to team up with Zappiti for the metadata scraping. When Zappiti decided to release their own players it looked like the end for Dune. Ironic that Zappiti is out of favour now and Dune are back with a bang. Can’t wait to experience that familiar looking layout again. I think I’ll be relegating the Zidoo players I currently use. Thanks for the review.

Just got mine, it's great for the most part, but I hate the lack of library sorting options. I don't want my separate MCU folder grouped together in various collections! I want all movies listed individually in the correct order, which Plex can do just fine. It feels out dated in this regards, we should absolutely have more control on how our library is configured.

@@clarkss12 Using Plex for example, you have freedom to sort and display your movie library how you wish. With Dune the options are very limited. The Marvel movies are just one example. With Plex you can have them all listed out individually in watch order. On Dune it groups them in batches such as Iron Man Collections, Thor Collection etc, and you have no choice in it.

@@clarkss12 Morning, for convenience and speed, if at home, boil the water in an electric kettle then put it in the percolator, starts perking in about 20 seconds

I get up in the morning, clean up the coffee grounds from the day before, put my new grounds in and put it on the stove. Then I take my medication, go turn the computer on sit down and check my email. By then the coffee is done.

I have this exact Duo with 1 SATA HDD and 1 SATA SSD and very happy with it. 11:00 "This is for the video files that want *perfect* playback quality" 11:35 "Would I buy it as a media player? No I would not." Conflicting. I'm confused. Why do you not use this Duo as a media player?

@@eroullapetrou9503 You have to set a location to where you want the recordings to happen. Then when you go to Kodi and use the tvheadend addon there should be a dot to select to start recording. When you can change all kinds of options of recording.

Got the box today, and updated to android 12, but audio only comes in Dolby audio +, Atmos is not working, kinda baffling as my Nvidia worked perfectly, kinda disappointed, any suggestions? Thxs for the review.

Must be something in the setting. Dolby DD+, and Dolby Atmos work perfectly. In fact all of the HD audio codecs work, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, DTS:X, etc..
