The name of the school was Indianola Junior High School when I was a student there.

A few years back I stumbled upon the memorial marker in Fitchville at a roadside park. I started reading the marker and immediately broke down into tears and could not stop crying. I am a Nursing Home Administrator by profession and this moved me beyond words. I had to go to Norwalk to the cemetery and pay my respect and pray at the grave of the victims buried together. I continue to this day to share this video and information with my staff as a training on the importance of Fire Safety. Prayers... watching again today as a reminder to myself why we do what we do when training our staff.

What those boys did was totally wrong and horrific but in reality if every kid was a good person like this girl it would not have happened! Unless you've been bullied for years you can not know the depths of hell you are in every day usually for years! Young people can not see the future, that when your in the adult world things totally change! They think their life will always be filled with pain and darkness! Some do or as in my case, try to kill themselves. Some who have other mental issues kill the ones they precive are the root of their torture! And bulling is torture! The adults in this world need to work really hard to end bulling not put all their effort in gun control! If someone is troubled enough to want to actually kill people they will find a gun on the streets! Just think if one of those teachers were trained and armed they could have saved a lot of lives that day! That is reality!

I was in 9th grade when this happened. things were very different after this for me.i was called to the principal several times for the gothic way I dressed, wearring a long jacket in cold weather, and for wearing black boots with different color shoe laces... before this I had never been in trouble or called into the office. really made me distrust the font office staff and other adults that kids should feel ok reaching out to for comfort and advice. sadly I'm afraid our world hasn't learned , but has grown much more hateful and violent. I pray for peace and love to our generation and the ones after us now.

You are an awesome, hero sara! I remeber hearing about this in high school. I was devestated. I was living in texas at the time. Not a day goes buy that i don't remeber how shocked and depressed our school was over it. Our entire school was heartbroken. 15 people lost kids that day. Rather then point fingers at your situation i can only look back and thank god i never died at 14 myself. Later on in sept of 99, a football player went into the boys restroom at my school and decided to end his own life. At the time i was told there was a gunmen that might be in school. I remeber being in the library myself but getting up and high tailing it out of there, the moment i heard the annoucment. You are not alone in the world of tragedy, we all feel it and i wish you nothing but peace and happiness for the rest of your life. God bless you!

I've lived in Millfield my whole life. My hometown. My dad told me my great grandfather survived the mine explosion. We now own the garage which was the old company store from the coal mine. I go passed the mine all the time. My grandma lives down the street from it I can see the smoke stack from her yard.
