Did Kurtág publish a legend explaining some of the more arcane features of his notation?
@RicardoCoelhodeSouza8 ай бұрын
Other than the caesuras and fermatas of different durations, explained in another page of instructions, there is only a little note at the bottom saying, "improvise in various manners of performance in proportion to the density of the drawing."

The platitudes of the academic music critics never cease to amaze me as they will find music value in anything that is "new" simply because it is, "new". Anything at all as an excuse to cause their "pen" to show just how special they are to be able to understand this noise as having true merit to be "recognized" as such. Well, regardless of such platitudes, "The Emperor Still Wears No Clothes!" This is laughable, and there you have it. A rambling collection of disjointed. Sound the audience politely must applaude to as they are relieved the piece has finally come to a close....

The percussion is all very pitched, even the cymbals and gong. Not to sound insensitive, but are there really so many people in the world who can't go a few stinkin' minutes without coughing, gurgling and strangling? And does every single one of them avidly attend live performances of various quiet, atmospheric musics?

He invented the term "organized sound," which means that certain timbres and rhythms can be grouped together in order to capture a whole new definition of sound.

I wanted to perform this for my senior bachelor's recital, but with Covid haunting all progress, it had to be cut from my recital. So spending a lot of time searching for good examples, this is by far the best example, especially when it comes to the type caxixi (not disregarding Souza's. own recording). Some have a very small hole just for one finger which makes this piece easier to play. But, like mine, the hoop is much larger for the entire hand to fit in; making it difficult to transition to the different playing areas. Thank you for the performance, and now I look forward to this being on my summer recording project.

Think that this work was composed in 1922-1923, which means already onre century ago. Varere viewed it as a kind of draft for a work which he could only write later on with means that did not exist at that time.

Obrigado, Mauricio. Que maravilha poder receber esta mensagem de um membro da família Villa-Lobos. Ele é um dos meu heróis da música. Minha espôsa tocou a parte do offstage tam-tam; não deu para escutar? Um grande abraço.

Ya, but this is one contemporary composer who should, Saperli Popette! I don’t consider this “garbage” music in the least! Who in or out of their right mind would want “or enjoy” listening to this abortion!! Total waste of one’s ear drums!!! God gave us good ears to “discern”! No opinion necessary!!!!!
