Thank you for the video mate. I m going to replace a broken windows at the same side and it was really helpful. One idea: I think you could use the mechanism itself to help seat down, pushing the glass to the top of the window. Just an idea. I will post the video on my channel as well. Thank you very much again.

11:49 is that clip OEM? Mine never had one. 12:51 The grease there is only needed if you don't take that back cover off. Which is how I assume the previous person changed it. The new filter can be squeezed in, it's really tight, but with a bit of grease on the end it clears the lip. Also worth doing the cabin filters at the same time just because you have to remove them anyways to get to the airfilter.

I think whoever owned it before me had added that clip so I just kept it up, even tho it probably didn't actually need it.

I think I can slightly see it a little but so long as it doesn't pull out easily and the wipers function normally, then you will likely have nothing to worry about.

Do I need to take handbrake off to replace rear discs and pads?
@bumbleshufflesdiy5908
@bumbleshufflesdiy5908 23 күн бұрын
Yes. As far as i know, you won't be able to remove the disk with the hanbrake on (as the brake shoes will be expanded outwards and pressing against the inside of the top hat part of the disk). Well this is certainly the case on my car.

Does your suspension drop when you leave the car for a couple of days. I have been fixing mine also. My compressor was knackered because of a leak which causes it to constantly run making it overheat. I have found one leak on the tank and I am just about to replace my rear strut top O rings as they are leaking too. Good luck with your claim. Brad

Mine hasn't been dropping at all weirdly even when left for quite a few days. How did you detect the tank leak and was it the one in the boot?

@bumbleshufflesdiy5908 I have running boards fitted and one of the bolts was rubbing on the under body tank. Apparently, it's a known fault.
@brad146
@brad146 23 күн бұрын
@bumbleshufflesdiy5908 if yours doesn't drop but it's detecting a leak, it must be before the suspension struts. Have you checked all the lines for knicks
@bumbleshufflesdiy5908
@bumbleshufflesdiy5908 23 күн бұрын
@@brad146 funny a few years back when I was installing my running boards I noticed that the middle bracket could easily interfere with the air lines and as a result I cut the bracket short and added some tape around the bolts to make sure it cudnt reach and that there were no sharp edges. All is still good with that on mine but yes I agree that if a person installed running boards and didn't notice the proximity of the air lines to the middle bracket, there could easily be an issue down the road.

Great video and much appreciated. I bought one of these last night. All has gone well apart from the front brakes. When I attached them back after installing the front wheel they seem to be very tight and not releasing fully when the brake is not being used
@bumbleshufflesdiy5908
@bumbleshufflesdiy5908 Ай бұрын
Thanks very much for the positive feedback. I think you can adjust the front brakes via a nut just above the pads (I.e. loosen nut and allow more wire to slide through so the brakes are open a bit more). Hope you get sorted.

I can actually remember now but through trial and error you will identify which direction is loosen and which is tighten. Sometimes though the shoes inside / disc just need to be replaced if the whole thing is worn out. Pain in the backside this style of parking brake.

Great video. I've just cleaned my faulty unit... I soaked it for 24hrs in a combination of WD-40, bleach, washing up liquid and water, and then used a small wire brush (size of a toothbrush). When I replaced it at first it didn't work, but I realised that I had done the screws that hold the motor to the unit way too tight. Those two metal inserts that the screws go into were a nightmare for me but after loosening them slightly it worked fine. I didn't bother using grease to lubricant the internals tho.... Also (because I skipped some of your video) I'm not sure if you noticed that there's a rubber O ring that goes on the spindle that protrudes through the window which the windscreen wiper attaches to. That little rubber o ring is what 'should' stop the water seeping into the unit but it doesn't. One problem I have now is that my cleaned unit is far too powerful... when the water squirts out it travels about 6-8 feet! I have to make sure there's no motorcyclists or other cars around when I want to clear my rear window because it could put out 🔥 it's so powerful! Thanks for the video it helped me to put it all back together really easily! Oh, in order to get the trim off my boot, I used one of those 'scrapers' that people use to clear ice from their cars. Because it's slightly curved at the end it worked a treat!!

@bumbleshufflesdiy5908

Hi Paul. Thank you very much for your comment. Yes we agree there is no risk of stripping the sump plug this means. We used castrol oil selector (or the cars manual) to identify the fill capacity and also pay attention to how much oil we extracted.
