Lamentable

As a serious musician I know I should love this. But the political views of Wagner leave me cold
@ColonelFredPuntridge Жыл бұрын
Wagner is dead. He doesn’t care about politics anymore (and that’s assuming he ever really did).

I get that, but as a Gesammtkunstwerk, it’s undeniably universal in terms of common human themes. It’s also hard to situation Wagner operas in situations that happened later. Sure, the Nazis liked Wagner’s music……so what. I like Hugo Boss. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being reflective, but it seems like overreaching.

I love the Rheinmaidens' laugher in this production! This is my third time through this particular performance of the Ring and it's become one of my favourites. I'll be listening to these for years to come! Thank you so much for posting these!

I guess Darmstadt was originally intended as a sort of post war Bayreuth. Boulez's comment about blowing up all the opera houses, and Stockhausen's ambitions of Gesamtkunstwerk.
@psijicassassin7166 Жыл бұрын
Boulez was a hypocrite. He lived off conducting tonal masterpieces.

I think this was the studio version based on the famous Boulez/Chereu centenary production at Bayreuth in 1976

Phenomenal cast; not a single weak link. Incredible, especially under Barenboim's baton!!

This is a wonderful performance which I had not heard. There's a lot orchestral detail which is often missing. Thank you so much for uploading.
