One thing that strikes me as a bit odd @ThunderPsyker is your steady, and well deserved, praise for the DOW Voice acting and yet you're surprised by being asked to do Blood Omen, and even more so, not salivating at the though of moving onto Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2. (ThereisnoBloodOmen2ShuttheFUCKUP!!) This is because in my opinion, the lore, world building, overall writing and voice acting of Legacy of Kain takes DOW out behind the bar in the alley and abso-fucking-lutly WRECKS THEIR SHIT! Simon Templeman, Michael Bell, Tony Jay, Paul Lukather, Richard Doyle and Rene Auberjonois exterimantus' because of Amy Henning. Figure you'd be all over that.

Ok hear me out: We give this series to fromsoft.

I liked the limited scale of DoW II and loss of base building. The game felt more like the tabletop.

Shame about thq going bust, relic seems to have carried on fine without them though. A part of me still likes the rts style of Dow1-soulstorm but I think a change to this playing style was good because the campaigns for soulstorm and dark crusade were rubbish. I liked with winter assault how you could view and play previous missions.

How do you zoom in you're units like that?

Firestorm over Kronus was such a massive change in all the right directions. Many of them were such almost unnoticeable things that were overly complex to change/fix yet the team was so dedicated to the game that they did it anyway. To read the updates in the old fok forums was a delight. Some things that pop out of my mind that they touched are the sounds (the way that it is mixed is vastly superior to the original game). Another thing is the way the units engage in melee combat. Unlike in Vanilla, in FoK lifebars refresh in real time (no lag), this means that hits actually have an impact. Plus, in FoK, the distance of engagement (not the charge distance, but the actual space between units while fighting) is changed to give units more weight. Also, the "choreography" of melee combat is changed to better reflect the damage done and received. They also tweaked the strength of range weapons (so, for example missiles packed a lot of punch, specially against grav tanks). Another thing that worked better than the original were formations. They somehow vastly improved the way vehicle pathing and large squads worked, so managing large armies felt more natural than in vanilla. Also managing vehicle squads (like land speeders), felt amazing. These are some of the things i remember being amazed by the mod. The mechanics of FoK are so different from Vanilla Dow that they could have been in an entirely different RTS and be successful.

Fun Fact: Dawn of War Soulstorm, is the only Dawn of War game that NOONE did a dedicated all quotes video of the individual units lmao

So, when he says the AI are CHEATING MOTHERFUCKERS, he's kinda underselling it. Even unimportant skirmishes on border territories turn into nightmare slogs if you're not being careful, and if you're playing the Imperial Guard your ONLY prayer is very aggressive porcupine mode until you've capped off at least one of your opponents. It's a good game, but your first playthrough really should be space marines or chaos, in my humble opinion.

There is mod for Dark Crusade to allow purchase wargear for commander unit from Campain mode, not sure did same mod exist for Soulstorm.

I remember how disappointing the Soulstorm campaign was for me after the Dark Crusade. An absolutely pathetic piece of work in the form of a campaign, buggy and not fixed to this day.

dawn of war 2 still stands as really the only game where i listen to the audio complation of character lines. Still today, ill listen to the compilation of the lord comissar’s lines and it never fails to get me pumped. “you die on my command, not before” “glory is loyalty perfected!”

soulstorm is the best one yet.

Unification mod has began integrating all this different mod races into the Soulstorm campaign by letting you race swap the existing ones for other equivalents (Alpha Legion -> Emperor's Children, for example) plus adding the tyranids to kaurava 1 and a little new ice planet for the Grey Knights and daemons to fight over. I'm sorry everyone, it's officially the best mod ever now, there is no competition.
