The 4 issue Bronze Age series Beware The Cat was confusing for me as her costume was very similar to Hellcat's, but they are different characters. I think that Cat would later become Tigra. Interesting to think that Patsy Walker would pre-date many well known Marvel Super-heroes!

I've always loved the "non-superhero" Silver Age comics by DC & Marvel. The war, horror, western, humor, romance & oddball titles are a cool window into a vastly overlooked world of comics. I have numerous high-grade copies of titles like Jerry Lewis, Bob Hope, Dobie Gillis, and Binky (many featuring the great Bob Oksner). Comics like these and many that you mentioned are so much harder to find than superhero titles. The graded copy of Chili #1 you have is awesome... along with the Millie, Kathy, Rawhide Kid and Groovy issues! In another video you showed Laurel & Hardy #1 by DC from 1972. I also have a great copy of that, a truly obscure one-off title! I enjoy your videos!

That Laurel & Hardy #1 really is a unique comic book from DC at that time. I'm glad there are other collectors out there like yourself that look for these hard to find oddball titles - they are so much fun, and truly overlooked! When you start to included other publishers from that time, it's mind-boggling to think about what's out there.

I'm glad you mentioned Fantasy Masterpieces. Back in the 1970's I was buying those for a whopping $1-$2 each in good condition. So many great stories I otherwise would never have been able to find at my local comic store. Topic Idea: How about doing one about the DC 100 Page Spectaculars. Some of these had golden age stories which were never published before! I couldn't comprehend why they would have had the artwork just sitting around and not do anything with it for decades.

While I collect a dozen or so runs (usually 70’s DC bronze horror or Sub-Mariner) outside of that I usually just get the bangers. The problem with the dollar bin big grabs is storage. Plus when you pass your children will end up with a ton of books that they can’t move. For the majority of what you pick up I would read then try to trade.

Storage is a big issue. This purchase did give me a little bit of anxiety when I got them home as I don't have an immediate place to put them. I can do a some more re-arranging and buy some more short boxes, but that's not really the way I want to go. It's easy to get caught up in these kinds of sales as everyone around you are pulling out dozens of comic books. There's another youtuber, Jim (Bronzeville comics) and the amount of the stuff he has piling up in his basement gives me stress! Lol.

I love these old comics so much! When I saw your copy of Patsy Walker, I recalled that I recently found out a fun fact about one of her issues, when I was shopping for an Old Marvel Monster comic. There is a YT channel called; "MONComics". He loves Man-Thing and old Atlas/Marvel monsters. I decided to buy and send him an issue and wanted to find him one he didn't have, and also one that had a "cool factor" to it (Like the first Hulk Monster, or maybe an issue right before Thor/Iron Man/or Ant Man appeared). What I wound up buying him was *Journey into Mystery issue #69.* This comic (Along with Patsy Walker) of June 1961, were the *Very First two books that were "Branded Marvel Comics"* (the little MC in the rectangle on the cover made it's 1st appearance on these two issues). In 1977, when I was 16, my family took a trip to Washington DC. On one of the days, I went to the Library of Congress to read the transcript of the Senate hearing on juvenile delinquency that specifically dealt with comic books and had Gaines’ testimony. Stan, particularly in that period, frequently put his name on the art boards, even when the artist did not. There weren't credits in those comics so I don't particularly have a problem when S. Lee & Stan G. would appear on the first page of the story. Be Lee was such a credit hog that he would always sign the pages with the cut-out dress up dolls in Millie and the other comics as well, even though there was no "writing" on those pages. The covers of #2 and 3 of Ghost Castle are a little better, but not much; and the title was cancelled after those three issues anyway (dare we blame the covers for that?). Sanho Kim is a legend in his native South Korea, which the government there recognised in 2008 by awarding him the Order Of Cultural Merit. He's 85 years old and still writing and drawing, not superhero or supernatural stuff but graphic novels on Korean history. His work on Charlton's House Of Yang is very nice and more suited to his artistic skills. Regarding the Journey Into Unknown Worlds cover, my wife has threatened to throttle me with some of my clothing choices over the years. Some covers, like Midnight Tales #1, still work for me as stand-alone images even if they don't connect to any story in the issue (the Twilight Zone cover does not fall into this category). Another fantastic video! But I don't think I can ever reach into my closet again. Shudder.

I love "Midnight Tales" and "The Many Ghosts of Doctor Graves" Any Bronze horror really no matter how bad they are! 😂 Great video! Thanks!

Absolutely! There's this guilty pleasure charm about bad horror comic books. Hmm....I hope the Ripley's Believe it or Not is still there the next time I visit that shop.

Doctor Graves is fabulous, and plenty of issues featuring Ditko is a winner. Compared to other books of the time, very underrated and it's good as you can find them at great prices still. 🎃

YT is not doing any of the creators any favors with these minute and a half long commercials. On a positive note another great episode by the way.

Yikes! Yeah, it does seem YT has been cranking up the ad count when I watch videos - especially ones that have absolutely no interest to me. I had one on menopause the other day. Thanks!

I finally got KZbin premium. I heard not only does it avoid ads but it pays the creators better

The mythos surrounding the Inhumans is incredible. It's pretty amazing how Medusa, who was introduced pretty much as a petty criminal became such a rich character.
