I'm here because I heard "You're Out of Line" on a podcast years ago. The rest of the album isn't terrible, either. This band had the basic tools but lacked a "hit" to put them over the top.

It's really got a charm this album & ok it's not going to win many awards for being a 1960s classic but it is a long long forgotten 1960s gem!!

My God, my brother had this album, probably still has. This is the first time I have heard it again in over 50 years. Thanks for posting. Deep in the BBC Bristol archives there must be a live performance, as I can remember it being on the local news program, Points West.

Afraid to say this, but... Flaming Youth's "Ark 2" > Genesis' "From Genesis to Revelation" ...maybe it's because Flaming Youth was being themselves while Genesis was trying to be The Bee Gees. With this album...now I can see why Phil Collins wanted the prog roots to remain in Genesis...even though Banks and Rutherford tried pulling them out.

I visited a friend in Carson City Nevada in (if I remember right) the summer of 1968. He took me to meet a friend that was in this band (wish I could remember which one). I bought their album, recorded it on a reel to reel tape but didn't play it much, It was just OK to my tastes back then. However I had an original copy in very good condition in my albums. A few years ago I got curious and did a Google search and discovered how rare this album is. I'm not a record collector, so I posted it to Ebay for sale and was AMAZED at the response. It went to a collector in Germany for $600. Sure wish I'd have bought a couple copies !!

Wow! $600 is quite a haul. I found a copy among my bro-in-law's mother's records he gave me. It was sandwiched between two Jim Bakker & Tammy Faye albums, and the cover looked like it could be a Christian record, too. But I remembered hearing about this album ... and got a rarity! His mother lived in Carson City, so it makes sense why she had this album.

0:50 "Garden Wall" in the lyrics? That was the name of one of the two Genesis precursor bands in the Charterhouse Public School (Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel and Chris Stewart). Premonition? A better debut album than From Genesis to Revelation. Sadly, also the last one. Maybe then also better as for a final album than "Calling All Stations"?

My husband is a mega Genesis fan who turned me on to this album recently & I just DIG it to death! Part baroque pop, part late ‘60s psychedelia, part wicked witch of the west, lol. Eternally quirky & just plain fun. “Guide Me Orion” & “Changes” are both standout tracks but whole record is terrific. Love Phil’s vocals & the other 2 vocalists are also great. We just got this on LP for Xmas & plan on listening to it A LOT! enjoy!
