I think that part of the trick of collecting is trying to get creative about how to use (or at least justify) all of the collections. Your videos are inspiring me to try using some of the thread I've collected for some creative endeavors. Hopefully the sound was a little better in this one?

We seem to have similar tastes. Paper dolls...check! Vintage board games....check! Old doll clothes...another check! Funky record covers?....Of course! haha I could go on. This was fun to watch except for one thing, the music was much louder than your voice. I'm only learning myself how to edit and haven't even tried to put music in but I'm going to note it myself for when I do. I hope you don't find that rude to say. I would want someone to tell me. You have a sweet personality and LOVE your ideas so it's in a helpful way I critique. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the game box and record sleeve as I also have some of these things and wonder what to do with them.

Great haul and great sewing themed tags! I especially liked the 3D one at the very end. Great way to use the old items still in their packaging. Were both old packages zippers? I only saw the front one not the back one. Super cute!
@unearthedrelics
@unearthedrelics 14 күн бұрын
Thanks for your note & great questions. One package was a zipper. I ended up just using a spool of thread glued to the front to make it stand up. I also gather seam binding packages and packets of buttons and snaps or other closures. Any of those would be great for a project like this one. The pattern cutout I used on that one was from a pack of precut ones I’d ordered from Etsy last fall. They came mounted on cardstock so it was a little sturdier than the pattern package on its own.

Very interesting estate sales. The house in Silverlake was amazing. When I attend estate sales I always wonder the story behind the peoples lives that lived there. We recently attended a sale which gave me strange vibes when walking through the house. Turns out the man was serving 30 in prison! Love that you are going to try to return the scrapbook to the organization. Thanks for sharing your great haul.
@unearthedrelics

Woah - your estate sale gave me chills! I suspect the folks at the Silverlake house had been flea market sellers because there were bins and bins of things that look like the kind of stuff you'd see at flea markets...but they were also clearly lovers of a variety of vintage things. The house kind of had a tree house vibe to it...so I also wonder if it was self-built. In any case, I agree that the little glimpse you into people's lives when shopping estate sales is usually interesting. I just booked a trip back to LA and plan to take the scrapbook back with me and hand it over to the theater if they want it...not sure what I'll do with it if they don't want it. :)

Great finds! How do you use the Jenga pieces?
@unearthedrelics
@unearthedrelics Ай бұрын
I use the Jenga blocks to make collages, often made with Bingo cards, stand-up. This was a trick I learned from Creative Girl Vintage. You just glue one or two of the jenga blocks to the bottom back of the card, and voila, it becomes a free standing working of art. In this video I show a couple of my bingo card creations: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIS8dn2LlpqYa5I - thanks for your comment - that was a great question. And thanks for watching!

Thrifting and antiquing rank right up there on my list of places to visit when I travel. Its a free or inexpensive means of being entertained (unless you have really expensive taste in antiques) and I've found that it is a great way to learn about a location that you are visiting. Like archaeologists who study the trash dumps of ancient cities to learn about their culture, you can learn a lot about a city by seeing the kinds of things that get donated to their thrift stores and charity shops!
