Here I am, watching your video 10 years after it was made and it's so useful. Now that I have made mine, I find that laying a longer strip of ribbon or non-acid paper strip across the bottom of the box, then putting in the artwork before laying the ends of the ribbon gently on the top before closing the box, makes it very easy to lift out the contents of a close-fitting box.

Hello Mr. Escalante, My team Is currently working on a presentation of paper alternatives. For our project we must calculate how many peices of paper is made from each Batch of 2lbs of corn husks and 20 quarts of water. If you could give us an estimate that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Kindly, Our team.

The sheets that we made for this video were kind of thick. Like card stock. We made sheets that were close to A4 in size and when we began to run out of pulp, we made sheet close to A5 size. I no longer have notes from that project. My best guess is we made 10 sheets of the A4 size and six at the A5 size. If you make thinner sheets you would be able to make approximately 20 A4 sheets. Hope this helps your team! -Jim

how do you get the photopoly to stick to the mounting rubber/magnet?
@jaescala
@jaescala 4 ай бұрын
We purchased the photopolymer materials from a vendor called Box Car Press. They sell a double sided sticky tape that sticks to the Photo polymer and can then be stuck to the base. I did not give much detail, but look at 01:23. You can see that we burnished the tape and peeled off the backing so it can be placed on the plate.

Hi SageKinessling. I wish I had an answer to your question. I have never spun yarn or worked with fiber. Around the 0.31 mark you can see what the fiber looks like after it was cooked. I do not recall if we ever let the cooked fibers fully dry. My guess that it would be rather stiff and not wool like. I would love to hear about any trials that you attempt. Thanks for asking. All best, -Jim

Dang. Talk about mansplaining, Geesh you say the same thing 10 different ways for 5 minutes before doing something and then moving to the next section just to explain the same thing 10 different ways again. Shit. Just explain once and do the task. 🤦‍♂️😡 you also waste way more paper then is needed. Only like an inch has glue on it and yet you fold over 4 inches and at times throw the entire paper away for a small amount of glue 🤦‍♂️ extremely inefficient. Even towards the end you’re like I could do this or this or this, BUT. It in a here’s options for you, more like in a I don’t know what to do way. Like Geesh, is this the first book you’ve ever made and your first KZbin video? It’s like you have no clue what you’re doing? I most definitely will never follow you and will make note to not watch your videos again. I feel like I’ve lost knowledge by watching this trash.

I watched your video and thought I would try to make a book with only 8 folios. My first attempt went disastrously wrong, glue everywhere and all the wrong bits glued together. Straight into the recycling bin! However my second attempt is a success. It was lot easier to complete each individual page with it's black hinge and then attach them to the backing card one by one rather then building each one and attaching it and getting covered in glue. My backing card was long enough that I folded it over to make a cover. I'm happy with it. I used black poster card from the local dollar store!

I checked for the exact materials. I purchased the paper several years ago. I am 99% sure the black paper is “Black Licorice 100 lb cover stock and the white is also from the same vendor. I buy lots of my paper from French Paper company. For this demo I used a cover stock 100 lb paper for the the white inside sheets of paper. I used PVC book adhesive to glue the pages together and a brush to apply the PVC. In Cindy’s book, she used a black handmade paper for the cover. Her image was copied onto photo copy paper. The cut portions of her drawing were added to similar white bond paper. I hope this is helpful. -Jim
