This would have aired 50 years ago today. It was preempted due to NBC's coverage of the departure from office of President Nixon and the inauguration of President Ford. Perhaps this is why this is the only surviving complete episode.

Mel Brooks is one of the geniuses behind "Get Smart", a spine-tingling espionage thriller from the 1960s. Maxwell Smart was always intelligent, and his working knowledge of common spy gadgets like the ever-efficient Cone of Silence is amazing. The Chief just doesn't understand Max's genius and utter competence.

When I was a kid, these shows would come up after cartoons on Saturdays. I was so innocent back then I didn't even realize that it was a commercial! This one had several competitors, most notably the Daily by Kitchenmate, There was the Fingerhut Wok from Red China, The Snakmaster that made the triangular foods, The salsa maker, and the classic mandoline slicers that went by many names.

Bob Stewart created a lot of game shows that should have run longer because they were so good and engaging. Eye Guess, Three on a Match, Jackpot, Pass the Buck and Go. But his all-time classic Pyramid rewarded him very handsomely.
