Can the same set up on the wheels be done on a late model Ghia?
@CMSgarage9624 күн бұрын
If I had to guess, I would say yes, because the rear spacer kit I bought says it fits 68-74 Ghia. The drums I bought on JBugs, say they fit a Ghia also. Don't quote me on that though, I haven't worked on a Ghia.

Sorry for all the question, trying to get one of these running. I purchased a new coil, points and condenser and still no spark. For the spark wire you have is that anything specific or can you use a wire from a car spark plug set?
@CMSgarage96Ай бұрын
@@russwilson2182 it could be a few things. Most likely either the gap between the flywheel and the coil is too far apart. Try adjusting that. Also make sure the points are gaped properly. You could also accidentally be grounding out the coil somewhere also, by a wire touching somewhere it’s is not suppose to. Yes a car wire should be fine, make sure that spark plug wire is actually making contact with the pin in the bottom of the coil. If you have a multimeter, check your continuity.
@russwilson2182Ай бұрын
@@CMSgarage96 appreciate the feedback. For gaping the points I turned the shaft until the point was all the way open then used a .020 gap gage and set the point. Is that the correct process for those? What surprised me on the coil is one side is stationary and so you adjust the one side.
@CMSgarage9629 күн бұрын
.020 Sounds right, Only one side of the coil is adjustable. Adjust it all the way out until it hits the flywheel, where you feel it rubbing, then pull the flywheel off again and back it out just a hair. Does your mower have a kill switch under the backing plate? If that is grounding out it wont make spark. If it has a kill switch disconnect it. Did you watch this video of mine? might help. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npfOipuFp7KcsLssi=BPUBqgcbMqutXZhS

Are all Lawnboy mowers two stroke?
@CMSgarage96Ай бұрын
@@3cl1 Most of them were 2 stroke from the 1950s up until the late 90s. During that time period there were a couple 4 stroke models here and there. They are pretty rare though. Lawnboy was then bought out, I believe in the mid 2000s. At that point they all went to 4 stroke. For the most part over the years, Lawn Boy was 2 stroke.

Appreciate this video. My '67 came with 4-lug wheels for some reason and I've been thinking about converting them back to 5-lug. Some places list a front and rear 5-lug drum. Do you have to get those exactly?
@CMSgarage96Ай бұрын
@@daveydad Sounds good, from my understanding as long as the package deal says it’s for a 1966 or 1967, they should fit. 1965 and earlier front drums won’t fit a late model car. The rear drums stayed the same from 1958 to 1967. They will fit the late model with that spacer kit I showed in the video. I hope that helps, if not, let me know. I bought my drums from JBugs.com
