Recently binged both DB and DBZ, and every time this guy showed up on screen, it instantly brought a smile to my face. Best side character, hands down.

At least ONE person knows it wasn’t that boob Mr Satan who beat Cell! Though I never expected it to be the announcer guy of all people. He sounds like a pleasant guy to be around. I mean, he even got Piccolo to smile. Which is virtually impossible to accomplish!

"At least one person knows how great my dad is." You got that right. Seriously, the Announcer is the best. He's a super fan who went to every length despite the ring and everything else blowing up stayed to the very end every time to see the final result of the battles, even when Goku fought Piccolo who threatened to take over the world again. The entire ring was gone and besides all the main cast, he stayed. When Tien and Goku fell at the previous tournament, got on a hover bike and followed them across the sky to see the last moment of impact. This guy is so freaking likeable and respects good fighters even when he doesn't fully understand what he's seeing.

Anyone else reminded o' the legendary John Wayne by the cop's speakin? Wonder if that was intended.

I can’t blame this guy for being excited at all. He was the announcer when people were throwing beams, flying and doing all sorts of crazy techniques. He even got to see Goku and Piccolo’s match. How could he be satisfied seeing normal people fight?

What annoys me most about “Saiyaman” is the name, it’s almost as stupid as the outfit and he could’ve went with so many different names, hell, he could’ve just went with “Saiyan”. As for the outfit, he could’ve kept the boots, the gloves(to avoid fingerprints) , bodysuit and cape, he didn’t need the robe or helmet, the bandana and shades would suffice. And then Videl in disguise as if she wasn’t already fighting crime as herself

It's nice to know what he's thought of the previous Tenkaichi Budokai tournaments since the ones during DB. I kno they've been less destructive and more profitable, due to that, but you have to think they'd be somewhat lackluster to the guy as well. The level of talent and intensity on the finals since has been a severe drop-off. It allowed guys like Satan to turn it into a circus show almost.

He needs to be playable character in the new game

This is one of my favorite moments in DBZ tbh. Ever since the end of dragon ball, the main cast hasn't really been getting the credit they deserve for all their heroics, it's moments like this and that filler episode of Gohan meeting mercenary tao and that old master right before the cell games that really feels nice when people actually know what's up, 99% of the population of earth blindly follow mister satan, besides the wise few, ones who still practice proper martial arts, and people Goku has met during his life. I really wish all the martial artists didn't just magically disappear after dragon ball tbh, I know king piccolo wiped out alot of them but idr if they used the dragon to revive them, if they did there absolutely should be a lot more talented fighters around, but they're just not used in the show because they're not planet busting level powerful. I know super will never do this but it'd be cool to see some martial artists outside of the Z fighters have understanding of ki control and be able to use beams or fly, mercenary tao and crane are some of the only very few I can think of off the top of my head that was capable of that.

I watched this when it came out. I now have diabeetus because of heritability. I’m sitting here saying “I hope ya don’t.” Thank you for this absolute hit now comforting me in my middle age.

This guy really needs a name.. Hm, how about a wire gag, call him "Waiyā", or something static related like "Seiteki"? How about "Panshin", it's referee in reverse. Hm, "Shades", "Tux", "Ponpadōru"? Maybe I should just leave the names to Toriyama..
