The mixture of surprise, admiration and utter confusion on Winslet’s face is so real and relatable. Until now Veda had only been a selfish brat but the depths revealed in Veda’s voice have taken her mother by complete surprise. Winslet communicates all this without a single word. She’s amazing.

I was curious about the bell song and looked at the credits on the HBO DVD I checked out from the library, Mildred Pierce part five. It said that the bell song was performed by Dilber, but when I looked online it said it was performed by Sumi Jo, so what’s up with this nice mistake? I would think the people who do the credits for HBO would be a little more on the ball…lol! Anyone else see this oops?

I like to reminisce one programme of Pt. Soumitra Lahiri, the most favourite and competent disciple of Pt. Nag ,sometime in the early eighties at Bishnupur in the same raaga "Darbari ". Now I feel how much Pt. Lahiri was influenced by .his Guruji. That Darbari I will never forget in my life. Tabla accompaniment was by Subrata Ganguli ,a disciple of Subodh Nandi, the famous percussionist of Bishnupur.

The bucolic touch, tinged with melancholy of this lament causes an abyssal diving movement in my unconscious so that I end up feeling apathy before the problems, not as an escape, but as an exercise in self-knowledge 🤠
