Those bells were in my elementary/middle schools (built in the 50s and 60s) although when I went there they’d switched to a speaker system. They still went off a few times a year for unknown reasons though.

Wow. I have a wall phone that sounds just like that first bell, like exactly. It’s a strange sound for a phone.

A couple of those sound exactly like buzzers I've heard in older game shows. I wonder actual devices like these, or recordings of them, were commonly used in game shows back then.

Hearing the 5410 go off brought me back to high school, an old 70s building outfitted with 4050s. Hearing tens of those things going off all at once and constant tone was quite aweful to us teenagers.

@VintageVibratone4 ай бұрын
Not required, just emphasizing not to engage in any similar activities without gaining legal permission. Maybe not necessary, but this odd hobby with these signals I engage in has a small community following with a number of impressionable individuals.

Any advice on getting alarms from abandoned, pre-demo, or pre-re-system-ed buildings? I can never get in touch in time or even know that its happening
@turbinatearc74784 ай бұрын
Do NOT attempt to enter or take any items from any abandoned building without express consent of the property owner. This is illegal, immoral and dangerous. You can either get hurt, or worse get arrested and get off with a criminal record. Vintage Vibratone takes no responsibility for your actions; his lawyer told him to put a disclaimer at the start of this video.
@VintageVibratone4 ай бұрын
I work with preservation groups and museums on the side, although it can be difficult otherwise. Best bet would be to look into public property records and reach out via email. I know a few individuals who have successfully recovered a few signals that way specifically during pre-demoes with construction crews.

Can the rusted fire alarms be given a new paint job? I just want to know.
@VintageVibratone4 ай бұрын
Certainly can be and I have done it a number of times. I plan to restore the finish on each of these signals in the future as well as servicing their electromagnets and mechanisms.

I would imagine it was more obvious in situ, but hearing them all in succession I'm left wondering if so many different things all being indicated by similar horns like this ever caused confusion. I have to imagine they at least had them blast for different durations based on their purpose. _"Oh boy, it's finally lunch!"_ _"Nope, sorry, it's only __9:30__, they just opened the electrical room..."_
