Hi Ben. Do you have a paper book with the plans . As I don't have a newer computer for the 3D pictures. And if so could I purchase the book ? Thank You

I am Ben's daughter and just now working thru his emails where I was overwhelmed with interest in my dad's activities. I am determined to get the plans back on line soon and will post here when I do. I am very grateful for this community...there is truly no one like my dad. My heart aches daily as he lived with positivity and kindness and brilliance that makes him a one of a kind. More to come...hopefully very soon. All the best!

That is fantastic work and a great quality build. That's a hell of an achievement - not many people on this planet are even capable of coming close to having the intelligence and the skills to build something like that.

Very nice mill. Acme threaded rods must hold the mill with less movement in the cut, good feature. What is the effect of sawdust on the action of the Acme threads? Does the sawdust pack into the nut. Do you oil or grease the rods? Thank You for showing us your mill.

Ben you’ve designed and built a very nice mill I’m going to purchase your plans One thing I’m wondering if you’ve had any problems with sawdust building in the tracks. It looks like dust will build up rather quickly and being in freezing temps during our winter month might be a problem Like to know your thoughts on this
@TexasBen53 жыл бұрын
No problem. I sweep the tracks if a buildup starts. With a sharp blade and proper blade speed, the sawdust will be blown away and will not be a problem. The problem which does occur is small broken
@TexasBen53 жыл бұрын
Debris builds up if the log isn’t solid. A fix which I need to add to my plans is to put a vertical

Small plate with a slot to somewhat scrape the track where the rollers ride to keep the track clean. I problems writing this reply.

Ok Thanks for getting back so quickly I’m gonna “try” and order the plans today My neighbor is gonna help me with the ordering process, I’m not worried about the building process, but the computer stuff....I’m old school 😁

Everything looks great and heavy duty. Does the track build up with debris as one side of the track has a wall from the frame which doesn't let the sawdust and dirt fall away?
@benmiles87034 жыл бұрын
Some debris gets caught but is not a problem. Logs sawn are normally recently cut from live trees. Note that the sawmill is still cutting beautiful lumber. It relocated to the pacific northwest a few years ago and now mostly cuts Douglas Fir. As for maintenance, quite a few blades, a battery, a dry bearing needed replacement, and Mobil 1 oil and filter every 50 hours. Not bad and sawmill is still as great as it was the day it became functional.
@oby-16074 жыл бұрын
Beautiful machine. Is it still making lumber here in late 2020? Would love to hear it is.

I sold it to a person with a cabinet shop before I built my second version sawmill. He was cutting fancy hardwoods for upscale homes. He got a copy of my sawmill plans and built a second version sawmill. My first version sawmill was not as strong as the sawmill I sell plans for. As to what happened to my original sawmill, I am unaware of where it is.

Ben Very nice design I’m going to purchase your plans One thing I’m concerned about, do you have any problem with sawdust building up in the track with the 1” angle welded on the 3” side. It looks like dust will build up there fairly quick and being in freezing weather during our winter months might be a problem
@massmanute6 жыл бұрын
Ben, Have you considered modifying the sawmill so the blade enters at an angle of 15 degrees, like the EZ Boardwalk sawmill? They claim that the saw pulls itself into the workpiece with this angled design, making the saw easier to operate.

Hello my name is Larry and I like your video and I follow you on youtube. I built a homemade sawmill about two years ago..and have had a lot of fun with it..Nice starter sawmill. I am building a compilation of sawmill videos' and I was wondering if I could use your video in it..Appreciate your time. keep up the good work
@kboclghana6 жыл бұрын
Excellent and well presented professional work indeed. On Homemade Band Sawmills, this is perhaps the best video I have see so far. I am in Africa and making square edged logs out of Tali and Doussie wood round logs. Both the species are extremely hard and bigger in sizes. Tali, in its girth /round is sometimes bigger than 45 inches while Doussie log can be as big as 36 inches. Real Heavy Logs, 850 to 1000 KG/CBM I am not technically sound person, so I would need your advise for stronger and bigger Band Sawmill. Yours is excellent but Motor is just 17 HP and I think for Hardwood cutting, I might need powerful motor with stronger frame work. My email is: [email protected] and whatsapp: +92 310 214 9796. I shall be very happy if I get a response from you Sir. ( Najam)
