Dude, I forgot how BRIGHT Chrome flats sound!! I had a set of those before, and everybody was amazed that they were flats when they heard them being played.

Every single time I see Bobby Vega play either his famous Precision Basses and or Jazz Basses. He shows a wrinkle to his game/arsenal I didn't know he had. Is there anything this man can't play as a bassist. You can show him something and he'll straight play it back even better.

Every now & then after 26 years, I claim to be a bass player. *Then Bobby plays, and I realize I'm wrong.*

Volume volume? On a P? Regardless.. look at the tonal/volume difference when he goes from bridge area to bottom of the neck. It’s ALL in the fingers and placement. And the master ear. 👍🏼✌️

Great player - not a great sounding bass. Sounds like cardboard.

@efe berkay köroğlu Yeah, I know what you mean. Don't knock your Cort PJ though. They are very nice basses. If you're looking to get a similar tone to what you described, you'll need to reduce the action to get a little bit of that funk buzz when playing harder and bring up your pickups towards the strings. From there it's rally about shaping your EQ - this bass is about high mids, so boost those and you might be able mimic the Fender sound. Also, notice how close to the bridge he plays, with a pick. That all adds to the tone you're hearing.

With all due respect but, using a pick and round wound strings on a 56 Precision calls for an anvil across the forehead..

does anyone know how he does the low E not on 1.30, he just sort of waves his hand away from the bass and half a second later the whole thing starts vibrating i've seen bobby do it before and it's just a beautiful sound, shows his absolute mastery over the instrument
@jjossephh4 жыл бұрын
he plucks the string hard sideways with his thumb, closer the neck than the bridge. Because he plucks closer the center of the string, it does not create as many higher harmonics - it generates only the low tone which you don't hear as loud - and because he plucks it sideways, the string does not hit the frets and make a clanking sound. Then, over the course of a second or so, the vibration of the string changes direction (which will always happen because you cannot pluck a string perfectly in one direction), so it begins hitting the frets as it vibrates up and down, which makes higher harmonics of the string ring out. All of this happens very fast, but that is what creates the swell effect
