Hello! Great video! Have you ever consider using a pre filter, such like sunsun603A? I’m going to test it in order to keep canister only with media. Greetings from Brazil.

Ha! And here I was thinking that this hobby was mainly practiced by middle aged overweight guys who avoid being with their wife's ... but no, extremely pretty women do it to :D That aside, great video's, thank you!

thanks I’m dealing with this , and I certainly don’t. wanna do a medication if I don’t need to. In my common sense corner I’ve thought exactly that, don’t have it in my tank and the tank I got them from that LFS has pristine water. i’ve heard of peoples snowflake heel dying when they’re treating for it so I don’t wanna treat my tank if I don’t need to.

I have several large plecos 12+ inches in length. I hotdog cut a zucchini and band it to a rock. The problem with blanching is you destroy the nutrients and it decays instantly. Blanching tends to cloud the water while weighting doesn't.

Just about to set one of these up. So when it comes to cleaning the pump you just unscrew and pull the fitting out of the pump?

Nice. I live close to the beach too. This might be the best idea and money saving for me as well. Do you run the water thru anything like a net to catch any debris or anything like that. Or straight to the tank?

Reef keepers are notorious for going M.I.A 😂 . I’m running my tank with a canister filter it’s been almost 3 years but the beginning wasn’t easy at all . My canister used to get very dirty with some thick yellow stuff on my filter pad .

Hi Lauren, the only way to grow it and it’s not easy sometimes is a refugium… I can’t even have the cheap corals in my tank because my fox face eats the Xenia Greenstar, Polyp. The only thing they won’t eat so far is the hammerhead coral because of the stings. As mentioned in the other comments, do a hang on the back refugium. That’s the only way.!!! Love your videos!!!

I totally agree with your love of soft corals. I’m not a fan of hard corals as they dont look alive. They could be plastic fake corals for all an observer knows. But there is no mistaking hammers, and mushrooms and xenias for unliving unmoving fake plastic coral.

Beautiful! Beautiful beach and waters. Minnesota / Latvia here. Have aunts uncles cousins in Port Douglas Queensland and also in Sydney. Was in Port Douglas for a month years ago hope to go back some day. Have a 150 gallon salt 11 years now all used was idle last 4 years and just kick started it 8 months ago and have a whole new crew. I have a Lawnmower Blenny too and wow have some algae and he is clearing it out. Adding a German 5 gallon CPF 250 with a UV 13 watt bulb was a donation to me works great on Diamondback Terrapin salt pond. Switching it to now the 150. Just found your vids per canisters great stuff. Thank you. My profile pic is of one of my blue Diamondback Terrapins on of my gals.

I'm running the same setup as you. I use 2 Fluval FX6 canister filters. I got rid of my sump and plumbed the underneath to the overflow. Couldn't be happier. I also clean them and replace the foam filter pads every few months...they aren't that dirty either. I also top off the water manually in the overflows. It's a great easy fun setup...really makes it easier and more fun. Personally, I think dirty sumps are more nitrate factories than a canister filter. I'm coming up on the first year. No issues.

Great video, awesome idea. The only thing i would air caution on is the type of plastic you put into the tank. I think there are like 7 different plastic compounds that are used and only 2 of them are food grade. Other than that great video.

If your tank it's not at the same high level of the source where you connect the house. Don't loose your money and time
