Just ordered the retrospective’Here and Home ’ and was so happy to find this segment where you talk about his work. I really enjoy photo books where the text play an integral part in the overall experience.

I was surprised and delighted to see that you are producing videos again. I used to watch so many that were out there but came to find them annoying because they were more about influencing folks to buy gear and whatnot than offering anything useful from an educational standpoint. Your videos were always a delight, and I missed them dearly. As a lifelong outsider myself, I can truly relate. Enjoy the winter. I know I will!

I love the Idea of you RV workshop. I tried to make a zine for my local photo community, it hasn't really worked out. But it has introduced me to some new people and made me reevaluate many aspect of what I do.

Very very powerful way to end the video explaining the democratic nature of photography. It is also great to be able to write directly to you from someone who finds your work very interesting. We all hope you don't get tired who making these kind of videos Alec.

An eclectic but first-rate selection! Thanks for sharing with us, otherwise we probably would never know what is inside these books, especially the ones published in foreign lands.

I really enjoy this kind of student editing in the video. After all, this is essentially a very large classroom. Thank you so much for maintaining this channel. It’s quite hard to access your books where I live, so these videos are a great way to understand how you "think"-not just through Google Images, but directly from the man himself, and it feels like it truly resonates with me. Oh, it was actually kind of nice when I only knew your work through pictures and not your face, haha. But that’s pretty rare nowadays!

I enjoy your point of view and seeing beautiful books. I‘m glad you made a comeback 😊 i also kinda wish you made a website for photo books where one could also share some and see your library. Like an archive sort of. Not full books but just a taste/ tease… so we could go look for it after in the stores. With your special curation and connections.

The Machine cannot differentiate between art and pornography. It is inhuman, it is dead and never had life, unlike the works you show us. Many thanks.

Did someone explain the balloons? The recording device - perhaps webex - provides them after 'recognizing' your fingers as making a victory sign, a V. It's useless and wonderful.

I have recently stumbled upon your channel and I am so glad. My professor has spent a year always going back to your work in our class and it is clear as to why. These videos feel like such an educational treat. I love how much care and knowledge that is put into your art! I am an art student currently, a photo major at Parsons. I was so enamored by this book when I first saw it at Strand book store. I can see why now, all the energy and creative ingredients that were put in place, I hope to have creative journeys as well.

Wonderful story, Alec. I got that same feeling one time returning back to a portrait subject that I had put on a pedestal because of the idea of him in my mind. It was only two years later. I can’t imagine over 20 years and countless books, galleries, etc that probably exacerbated that feeling. Love when you share stories like this. Please never stop.

Thank you, Alec. Thank you for showing us, men, that it's okay to be vulnerable, and it's okay to express our inner selves. That in turn makes you a teacher, maybe after all you are becoming your high school art teacher.
