I was around 10 yo when my dad begins to buy Colors. Reading those magazines when I was a kid definitely had a huge impact on my life and shaped the person I become. I've learned there how to embrace and love the diversity of life, been curious more than judgemental, and of course the beauty and power of pictures. Thanks Colors!

Hello Alec, I really enjoy your videos, I feel connected with this one in particular by the fact that some years ago in the same week, one day I saw one of your exhibition, and another one I had the opportunity to see Toscani for a lecture, and he started with that sentence you read. I still feel inspired with your large printed pictures and Toscani's lecture. Keep up if you can with these great videos!

These are frustrating times, but FWIW I'm selfishly grateful for these, even though they are a byproduct of you not being out there creating new work 🙏

Thanks for your honesty. I can relate to living with fear. While its presence is partly based in the horror of our circumstances, I try to remember it's also been imposed as a political strategy. And this I want to resist. Doing our work is one way to resist. Thanks for these videos, and I look forward to new work from you.

Hello Alec. All the things in this video brought my thoughts back to the Broken Manual. From the history of Rolando, the kind of photos, from Alec staying in his library (the place where you can "travel"), to making change decisions. We look forward to news about the new project. I also hope to see new videos with thoughts on what interests you.

I loved Colors mag growing up. It was an enormous inspiration to me and I wish it was still around in some form. I gotta get that compendium!

Fear can be transformative once you recognise it and overcome it. You’d think our fear/s would be obvious to us but even more frighteningly, they can remain submerged in an outwardly comfortable life.

Dear Alec: Love you! A book I've been enjoying that perfectly combines text and photos is William Christenberry: Working from Memory (Steidl, 2008). Brief, eminently readable stories by Christenberry accompany his genius photos.

many people in italy do not like Oliviero Toscani for his radical and provocative ideas. if you can understand italian there are many interviews and conferences on youtube very inspirational too . I personally prefer his speech rather than his photographic work

Thanks for sharing those fascinating books with us. Colors #52 is quite an inspiring one and we can see the impact of it on your book. However, I'm wondering how we may distinguish between overinterpretation and underinterpretation. I agree that if the text simply describes the visual image then it's totally unnecessary, but will there be a case that the author/photographer pretend to be excited and then make up a story for the photo? Many thanks. P.S.: Have you considered been sponsored by a bookstore / publisher? I think your videos promote many photo books. Many of my friends watch your video and buy more photobooks. P.P.S.: On the Colors Magazine, any recommendations on other issues? A single issue #52 is relatively expensive for shipping lol
