Thanks. Yes, I definitely hear the similarities. The cadence and motif for the verses is almost identical. Stevens would be an influence from a very long time ago, so it’s quite possibe that it bubbled up. Yes, his religious beliefs certainly weren’t compatible with many members of his audience. I don’t know, it seems to me that he followed his bliss and that’s fine by me. Cheers.
