Hey, I have a chevy impala LT 2011 3.5. I've done everything to it and was deciding to get the 5.3 ss but I was wondering if you can tell me about how good and reliable it is. I know the 4t65e transmission originally in the impalas are terrible but if possible, what transmission can bolt on to it?

@@TheGearShiftGurus thank you! I was looking at adding a cold air intake on the v6 version and I’ve seen people get high 20s and even break 32. I get 34 right now and with double the hp I’ll pay the extra money.

Bought myself an SS not too long ago slowly bringing it back to life and restoring it. Its a shame most people dont take care of this car. Or they just dont know how to drive and get it totalled. I always drive at 💯. Normal thing for me. Never had a problem. Ill knock on my skull now since its made of wood.

If a bolt breaks in the block drill out the bolt in the middle of it. That’s what I did in my Silverado with a Ls at 165k miles, when I put in long tube headers they were a bitch to fit in the 4x4 was also on e85 had a flex fuel tune.

Got a 2008 impala ss perfect no cap. From 1 owner in the military that doesn’t drive it much. Has everything except a sunroof. It’s white and has some chipping on the front other wise got a moms corvette with a lot of space for 6k 80k miles in Washington Belling ham. Bro was cool because I was young and wrote the private party sale as 4k to not seem sus but to also give me tax discounts when registering the car. Saved me 600k he is old and never drove the car much. I have 3rd gear slipping at 50 not low on transmission fluid rip might need a new clutch soon what should I do if my gear is slipping. ( goes from 2k to high 2k rpm when shifting other shifts are less noticeable almost seems like the car is revving with no power for a split second at 50 mph otherwise perfect. Had to replace an ac accumulator because my car was making a loud clicking from the passenger side behind the glove compartment.

8:28 Make sure the new front bumper is specifically made for the SS model. If you think the regular ones will fit because they are a bit cheaper well, you'll be surprised to hear they don't. Don't let me say I told you so, 😅

If your going the ZZP lowering spring route highly recommend the ZZP anti pogo washers and for struts kyb, AVOID Monroe I had them on my ss and felt like a boat. Hopefully we get to see the headers install video! Can’t wait

A lot of people don't talk about this but that's why you add trans coolers and that's why you rebuild your transmission and don't add stupid HP those transmissions are great when you don't abuse them can it handle 800HP FK NO but they wre great for max 400-425HPA

im going 128k stong. slips a little bit getting out of idle sometimes but yk that transmition made out of elmers glue, but other than that its caused me no prblems except for the crankshaft position sensor circut. and this thing has electrical issues like a mf i had to change my battery/terminal, rewire almost the whole thing bc it kept grounding itself to the metal on the engine bay why? bc the pully ate the cable to the copper lmao

Bro I hate mustangs but just get a 5.0 2015 for 18k or a corvette c5 for super cheap or a c6 if you have more money btw make another video please. I had a turbo 2010 Silverado 1500 single cab running an e85 tune and recently bought a 2008 impala ss with 90k miles in perfect condition from some super cool dude in the military that just never drove the car decided I should save some money instead of buying the c6 like I wanted because I have to pay for school at Uw. you need to make more videos been 4 months brother.

04 Impala SS owner (indy 500) i felt the same way when i got my SS a month and a half ago (From this post) i love my car and i least expected to get it! Got laid off in april (in the news lol) lost my GMC yukon Denali 06 and my ex got engaed lol. WHen i had got mine i fell in love and havent looked back since!!. Best wishes from a fellow SS boi!💪

@@TheGearShiftGurus your post was definitely out before I got mine but I was looking into them ! I live out in California and I see a lot of the 9th gen impalas out here mostly beat up though! (Your body style) I wanted the GXP lol but I was wor about the transmissions at that time but I can’t complain about the 3800! I’ve been mostly doing regularly maintenance but I want a second car haha
