Sir, please answer my question between at2035 vs fifine 688. Which one better? Thank you.

@Dracomies10 сағат бұрын
I know about them but they're not a hard recommendation over these. The NT1 is imo just as good but at 1/2 the price. Go and watch shootouts, you can buy 2 NT1s for the price of 1 LCT 440 Pure.

In the AB test, they do sound almost exactly the same, but the CAD has more self noise, so dead give away. Thanks for the review.

If I'm using a new M3 macbook.. working 100% in the box (no recording - hardware) is any of this better than the dac in the computer?
@Dracomies12 сағат бұрын
If your only focus is for headphones, dedicated headphone amps would be better. But if you plan to record, then check out Julian Krause's video on interfaces with good headphone amps.

I bought one from ali express a couple months ago and I'm really happy with it. Easy to carry in the watch pocket of jeans with the clip, and really handy especially when traveling. We just went to the beach and I don't carry all my tools obviously and I used several tools while there. I like that the tools lock. I always hated that the swiss army stuff mostly doesn't lock. To me a blade that doesn't lock is useless.

Has anyone pulled apart a CAD E100S to see what's causing the hiss and how to fix it? I'd be going to repair shops if the company is gonna be useless.

Nothing beats Prism in my opinion! Prism all the way if you can afford it. Best mic pre's. Super transparent. Also you will hear definition in your mix that you cannot hear with others. All play in real time so zero delay

The one you have is a NT1 (black top and bottom), not a NT1 Signature(grey top, black bottom). The two are different. The one you have is way better than the signature.

Dude that was fast! Couple more things - one corner of the pry bar has a protruding part that is great for going through box tape. Even the Amazon tape with strings in it. So you can save your blade from glue and premature dulling. Finally, there is a hole near the pry bar section for wire stripping. Will it replace your Rambler? Missing scissors and a nail file. I guess you could glue some 100 grit sandpaper to the bottom for a nail file.
@Dracomies2 күн бұрын
Nothing will replace my Rambler :D except..maybe a Manager. I'm seriously considering just coughing up the money to buy the manager. The little pen is handy.

I got a 2i2 second hand for like half price of a new one, has occasional issues of not playing sound when switching from fullscreen applications that, through various forums and the like, seem to be caused by drivers not being great.

Nice! For minimalism, check out the Lever Gear Edge XT. Weighs 1 oz and is extremely flat. Disappears in the pocket. 2 screwdrivers, pry bar, box opener, exacto blade, magnetic hex drive (perfect for Steinwhale). In combination with a SwissCard in my wallet (scissors, nail file, toothpick, pen, etc), it has replaced my 58mm keychain SAK.

@@Dracomies Their little charging unit is the smallest I have found as well. After experimenting, I use Ben Vallack's recommended 5g Wild Sky Gear dyneema bag (Ebay) for front pocket carry to hold: LeverGear charging cable, a couple of wipes, the Steinwhale bit kit and extender, a 711L hex end ratchet, a Pokka pen, a mini Bic lighter and a Wera adapter for my 91mm SAK cap lifter. It all weighs 5.2 oz. I am building another bit kit for any other multi-tool knife I might carry that does not have the 91mm cap lifter. It replaces the Wera adapter for a few more parts. It will weigh 6 oz. without the lighter.

I agree this is the best minimalist SAK for hikers and outdoors enthusiasts, for those who love to build emergency kits I tend to go with the huntsman as recommendation due to the abundance of used ones on ebay for roughly $15. Thanks for sharing this video.

Interesting. Some similar characteristics - does seem the e40 is a tad bit brighter. Makes me wonder if just using a bit more proximity than the e100s will bring them a bit closer in sound by increasing the bass to offset the highs. So, I guess, get the e40 and snuggle up to it a little closer and you'll get something similar. Certainly sounds worthy of <$100. Also, that Worker Bee actually sounds really good. I was a big fan of the first Worker Bee (as well as the first King Bee), and the 2nd generations, while slightly different, are still very solid.
@Dracomies3 күн бұрын
yip that's my overall consensus too. I didn't say it in the vid. But yip it's got less lowend compared to the E100s. Doesn't have that certain polish that the E100s has. I also do feel that quite a few of the microphones in the $70 to $100 range are performing just as well if not better. So the E40 isn't exactly wiping out its competition imho.

Very good content but one suggestion on your kit. Get a crank radio that gets AM/FM/SB and weather which allows you to charge a phone or computer. Batteries go bad and can be impacted by weather like water/flood or excessive heat or cold.
@Dracomies3 күн бұрын
Crank radios are very annoying to use. It gets very old. We used it and stopped using it. Batteries are plentiful imo

Thanks for the video. I have a old Focusrite 18i6 that uses an external psu and sounds very good. The only issue is it has to use Windows to change internal modes on it, so I need to install software on a Windows machine to change mode. Why is this an issue? It's an issue because I use Linux a lot of the time and I am in the process of migrating completely to Linux. I bought a Focusrite 4i4 and I wouldn't recommend it, based on my own experience. I mostly use headphones and the headphone output quality is thin and not as clean as I would expect. My 18i6 is far better in this respect. While Focusrite have almost a cult-like following, I think some of their products are nowhere near as good as they have been to the point where I am doubtful of purchasing another. They're not as bad as M-Audio, electronically, but is seems they're going down that road which is not good and casts doubt on Focusrite. I also have a Presonus AudioBox USB 96, the regular older one and not the 'Anniversary Edition' or whatever. I appreciate that in some respects this little interface isn't rated that highly. I've found it a good interface, solid and reliable and with a decent headphone output (at least for my headphones). I've come back to this interface after using the Focusrite 4i4 and found it much better sounding.
