When you use a microphone in cardio mode, it´s what´s behind you that matters the most cause that will cancel most of any reflected frequencies that bounce back. (Not saying it´s wrong to treat what´s behind the mic.) But hence, my solution was to buy a portable clothing hanger that has wheels on it, than I bought the cheapest bed mattress I found that has an egg shaped side to it, even though that´s not very important, approximately 10 cm thick. Placed the mattress on the clothing hanger using rope to bind it on, now I can slide it wherever I want it. Stands a little over 2 meters high since the wheels elevate it. Then I make sure to place the mattress as far as I can go away from the wall the back side of the mic will be aimed at. You don´t have to have the mattress up against a wall, can place it in the middle of the room. This setup is so simple, easy, cheap and so good for me! I can slide it away when I´m not gonna record. And the frequencies that bounce back from the wall gets caught by the mattress behind me and don´t bounce back into the front of the mic. The sound is great, not too dead. And oh, I guesstimate that option is about 50-60 bucks including the portable clothing hanger.

yip something like a photo backdrop stand with moving blankets behind you or a garment rack with wheels with moving blankets work great. Mattress works as well. All of these are thick, dense and soft material.

A true review I bought an Amazon booth and the quality is cheap, but it did improve my sound.

The technical term for that boxy sound is comb filtering The early reflections from surrounding surfaces combine with the direct sound to create sharp notches of subtraction in the signal reaching the mic aka it sounds like ass

Hi! i just recently found your channel and have been binging your videos about audio, i can't stress enough how simple and easy to understand your videos are while still putting in the most important details and most importantly the Do's and Don't s! PS: if possible, can we get the image you used in this video for guiding people on what route to take for booths?

I don't like the sound of it. It sounds thin. I'd go for the K688, Q2U or AM8 over that.
