you’ve definitely sold yours by now but i’m planning to buy a 2009 ford ka, it’s this model just one of the later ones manufactured. i don’t know anything about cars so im just a bit worried that i’ll be caught out by something. do you have any tips on what to look out for? it passed its MOT about a week ago, but im worried that there may be issues with the clutch or gearbox or something that i may not notice. i’ve been saving for a long time so just don’t want to get ripped off! any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

The best way to test things like this is to see the car in person and test everything. Make sure the car goes okay, stops well, that the clutch doesn’t slip, test that all the equipment works, etc. As a whole, buying an older car, you need to accept that there may be parts that need replacing. The mk2 Ford Ka is based on the Fiat 500. All the engines are Fiat. If you are buying a 1.2 petrol, it’s generally a good and reliable engine

Unless you’ve owned one, I don’t believe that your Ka has all these issues. Sounds like you had one that wasn’t maintained at all. Any car that’s neglected will have big problems. Oh, and I’ve driven an Aygo, and it is less comfortable, slower, louder and the interior is horrible.

I had one for about 2 years , it was stabile and always start no matter how cold it was. The little KA was a pleasure to drive, like a little gokart. My 1,3 engine could take me up to 185 km/h , about 115 miles. I send it to the car graveyard after 2 years because it was to much rust, and will cost to much to repair. But the car was good and cheap to run

Yes I would. They are good on fuel, very easy to drive and if you need to change anything, parts are cheap and easily available. Also, despite being an old car, you can actually safely run these on E10. Main thing you’re looking for really is rust.

@tealruby1
@tealruby1 2 жыл бұрын
@@GECKOZFTW look at your analytics. Probably 1% of people are getting here from search results, it's in the recommended feed. This edit in particular is just stupid. Mazda is in a Renaissance. Free from Ford and fresh with cash from Toyota, they've finally made a niche for themselves as a premium, fun to drive manufacturer. Whine about hybrids, but the ND2 is incredible and Mazda is about to launch a line up of SUVs and a rumored RX-9 on a RWD platform with STRAIGHT 6 ENGINES! Little dark age? Lmao. RX-8 was ass and while sexy as hell, the RX-7 was so unreliable they broke during magazine tests. The next phase of Mazda is going to be incredible. Huge growth opportunity for the brand.
@GECKOZFTW
@GECKOZFTW 2 жыл бұрын
@@tealruby1 All you can talk about is rumours. Is it wrong that me and loads of other people miss Mazdas old cars? If Mazda was in a renaissance they would have higher sales. Mazda in Europe at least, isn't selling that well. The RX-8 was never that bad of a car either. It wasn't ever meant to be a car to daily either way.
@tealruby1
@tealruby1 2 жыл бұрын
@@GECKOZFTW Never meant to be a daily driver? Wouldn't have been a porky 2+2 coupe with three doors if that was the case. Absolutely ridiculous you'd imply that. RX-8 was a goofy misstep, the only good thing about it was the phenomenal platform that the NC borrowed. When the Ford partnership vanished Mazda lost access to cheap, high volume platforms. Can't pad out their sales figures by selling low margin rebadged Rangers or Escapes. In car markets that actually matter, they're breaking records. 2021 was their best year in sales since 1994 in the US. Go drive a CX-5 and then go sit in a Tribute and tell me with a straight face Mazda is in a dark age. I-6 and RWD platform aren't rumors, they're happening. The RX-9 is definitely a bit of a rumor, but Lexus just teased a GT3 race car that looks *exactly* the same as the RX-9 Vision. I think it's safe to say Toyota and Mazda are in bed and will be collaborating on a premium sports coupe.
@GECKOZFTW
@GECKOZFTW 2 жыл бұрын
@@tealruby1 I'll wait for the I6 engines and RWD cars then. I have no interest in any SUVs, they just don't do it for me, regardless of brand. And as far as I know, yes, Mazda and Toyota are in a partnership. Look at the Mazda 2 in the US, it's a rebadged Toyota Yaris
