We fought our bullies and it made you a stronger person you would have been mortified if your mom went to the school about it and your dad would make it very clear you fought it out and don't come home crying about it seems terrible but that's the way it was in the 60s 70s and 80s

Lawd lawd lawd the teenage years in the 70s !!! You didn't set on the couch you were out doing something even back then before the government started putting stuff in cow feed, you could go out in the pasture and pick mushrooms and trip for days hahahaha 😂 wild but fun!!!

Remember turning the antenna pole by hand outside in winter to pick up the hockey game on Saturday night back then.
@WhoremembersusaСағат бұрын
Yeah! The old antenna-turning days were a real part of the experience-especially in winter, trying to catch that perfect signal for the big game. It’s funny how that simple task became such a ritual. Do you have any memorable games or moments you remember tuning in to with that antenna?

I don't agree w moving the dimmer switch to the steering wheel whatsoever! I never had to "feel" for it w my hand lmao!!! I could feel it w my foot no problem and is was much more convenient, even w a clutch pedal! People leave their highbeams on today all the time! It hasn't changed a thing except more of a pain have to bring my hand AND arm up on steering wheel when only using one hand to drive. I drive a lot at night so I know very well how it all goes! Bring back the floor high beam switch!!!

Hopefully, more people will appreciate the simplicity of those old designs! Do you have any other driving innovations you miss?

It’s was great times,…I remember my sister had some strange things that were little plastic shapes you cut out and put in the oven and they harden and curve,…I cannot remember what they were called?……everything then was so exciting, from planet of the ape dolls, Evel knevel, the fonz, kiss, skateboards, tree forts, mini bikes, etc….it was glorious!

@jeffwiseman7798 my girl friend neighbor and I would stand up, me holding the rope and she holding me, and slide down this wave looking cliff next door! The front end would hang out in mid air about 2 feet before finally hitting the snow on cliff itself. Boy, we were brave!!! Lucky never broke a limb! 😊

at 7.20 you show a bunch of guys heading for the beaches in Algeria, not true, don't know what that is and its a neat picture but it shows a bunch of guys in a wooden boat all wearing different helmets, one is even wearing a helmet from the first world war trenches, anyone looking closely could see that, did the U.S military even land of the beaches of Algeria which makes the guys who run this site bullshitters and possibly government stooges who appear to want to change history, keep it real, nice pictures but don't trust these guys

Also, does anyone remember the surprising, shocking and painful experience of, while walking through ankle deep fresh rainwater puddles just after a heavy rain, how the floating small red ants would climb up your bare legs. And while hundreds of these very small red ants (called Fire Ants) were climbing up your bare legs escaping the water they were near-drowning in they would NOT start biting, yet. Then, and ONLY AFTER hundreds of those Fire Ants were covering both your legs, one of them would start biting and then that sent a signal to all the other Fire Ants to also begin biting your legs! And that's EXACTLY why they call them Fire Ants because that's what it feels like --- fire spreading all across your legs! And after we washed them off of our legs there was always about 10 or 20 of them that climbed high enough up your leg and under your short pants and then kept biting during the next approximate 30 minutes until you are able to squish or smear them out of existence ! And I am sure this keeps occurring today but I've never heard anyone else mention it before.
@WhoremembersusaСағат бұрын
That sounds like an unforgettable-and painfully vivid-experience. Hopefully, someone out there has some tricks for avoiding them during those rainy day adventures!

I didn't know those bars were called Sissy-bar. We always called them Ape-hangers, like an ape hanging from a tree.
@Whoremembersusa14 сағат бұрын
That's an interesting twist on the name! "Sissy bars" and "ape hangers" both refer to similar bike parts, but you're right-"ape hangers" definitely captures that wild, rugged vibe. It’s funny how names for things can vary from place to place. Do you remember any other nicknames for bike parts or anything else from back then?
