So true . A 1966 Baby here . Our parents were responsible for our character and basic moral rules , but Trust was strong and the police understood that kid's will be kid's . Bullies served a purpose to weed out the stupid and we cool kids would group up and saved the smart ones from them . There were only 2 Genders and the term Gay covered the whole group without stealing our Rainbow . I my case was that I had a afterschool job before I got hooked on the ATARI or home games . I had a girlfriend and the California beach . Great times before the Smart phone , baby buster seats , and bicycle helmets .

@Nomad7656 Mine was Blue, crazy story on how I got it. My Pop built Mach 1 and Envision Boats in Monmouth Illinois. Well in September in Chicago at McCormick place they have boat shows. Well at 9 I wasn't going to stay in our booth so I walked around and found the Rupp distributors Booth downstairs. So I go grab my Mom first and get her on board, then my Uncle and by the time I showed my Dad it was a foregone conclusion I'd be getting a Rupp Mini. We got 2 months heard nothing about it and went about life. One day in December that same year my Mom picks me up from school which never happened and went to the Boat factory. We're coming down the road and here comes my Pop on a Rupp Mini in the snow covered streets. I remember my Mom yelling at my Dad, Bill your going to kill yourself let Brian ride it!!! God I miss those times 😂

Things and activities are fun to remember, but in 1971 I was 10 years old and what I remember the most - was THE VALUE OF A DOLLAR. When I got a dollar, I had to THINK about how to spend it, which usually was: a pack of Baseball cards (it came with bubble gum for 10 cents), a miniature football helmet (25 cents) a Coke (10 cents) and a nickle candy bar, that left me 50 cents which was good for what now is a Happy Meal at McDonalds. Those were the days...

This video on '70s culture brought back so many cherished memories. You captured so much of the nostalgia, from Easy-Bake Ovens to Stingray bikes, and I truly enjoyed the presentation. I'll admit, it even brought a tear to my eye - those memories are so wonderful, and I'm grateful to have them, even if I’m considered an "old dog" now. However, I did notice one thing missing from your presentation: tie-dye! While tie-dye originated in the mid-1960s, it was still a huge trend in the '70s. I remember how popular it was - gathering rubber bands, twisting a plain white T-shirt, dipping it into vibrant Rit dyes, and creating a one-of-a-kind fashion statement. Perhaps you could explore tie-dye as its own topic in a future video? It was such a colorful part of the era. Thanks again for this wonderful presentation - I thoroughly enjoyed it!

In 76 I got my first dirt bike. A Suzuki 125 ts. I was 14. I used to ride it on the sidewalk about 2 miles until I hit the trails. Since being in my early 60’s .. these memories are more in my thoughts then ever before. Freedom to get on your banana seat bike and explore everything and anything happening in your town. A new development being constructed we where there jumping dirt piles or just hanging out. We had swamps to explore and the bay would freeze over in winter so with no fear we could walk all the way to Fire Island our parents never knew what we were up to .. we were lucky nothing bad happened. Night time was the best all the neighborhood kids met at the same streetlight every night … we weren’t always well behaved I remember some snowballs hitting cars and someone would yell “RUN!” We usually hid in our boat up on blocks for the winter. Ok I’ll stop now but I think we all could write a book about what I consider the best era in history. Just watching this video brings back that feeling of a carefree life. ✌️🙂

I remember the fear and excitment the first time i went to the corner of our block at 5:00 am on my bike to pick up my bundle of newspapers for delivery. I remember dogs barking far off , every so often a car would start ,as i moved on through my route, dark houses started to slowly light up. Then the evening paper after school and the best part after supper once aweek go out and knock on every customers door for collection. Sometimes i made more in tipsin one week then i got paid for the route every two weeks. Awsome shit. I cant even imagine letting a child leave at 5:00 am to roam the streets.

"Ohh" 😯 ya wiping out, in "sugar sand" at 30+ MPH while Honda 70's maintain ed cause of thinner tires. These 10 yr olds stop 🛑 waited for me after I spit sand out of my nose and mouth. This was about 10 ft. wide trail, we came to a fork in trail and continued wider path, soon we noticed an old broken down house 🏠 from 1900s.I ✅ my gas tank less than half a tank, they rode slower on way back to hood. Thinking 🤔 about now, This trail could have been there for a century or so' this was a distant suburb. of Boca Raton.... trail was older than A1A. We moved to Tampa at age 9."Of note" I'd walk my minibike, a couple of blocks to the entrance of our hood' cross two lane highway to Citgo ⛽, spend 30.$ fill tank and ride home. Didn't worry about strangers in 1971..... "Well not in my hood".…...

And in the early 1990s I actually met the original Kool-Aid man that wore the costume in most all of those commercials. He told me he made about $100,000 doing it. He was a medium height very stocky young man. And, at that time, his dad lived on a boat in Marina del Rey, Los Angeles California. A real nice and friendly lovable guy ! 7 күн бұрын
@@Whoremembersusa YES, I woke up this morning and remembered two other things about the conversation I had with him while on the dock standing next to his dad’s boat which, by the way, I was doing some navigational electronic repair work or installation of a VHF radio or something else on the bridge of his dad’s approximate 55 foot Luxury Yacht: 1. While I was speaking to him his friend with him said that his nickname was “Big John”. Yes, his first name was John (and I would not give his last name here even if I knew it). 2. I asked John if the Kool-Aid company kept paying him royalties every time the commercial played. He said no but he said he was quite satisfied getting $100,000 for dancing around and acting goofy in a costume in front of the camera! He also said it used to get pretty hot inside the costume during longer than usual filming takes. And I will mention it again that John was acting very jubilant and happy while talking about having been the Kool-Aid man. Again, a naturally good kind of guy which perfectly matched the costume character he portrayed to be which near-countless millions of children got to see all day Saturday and Sunday while watching cartoons. 🙂

Along about the 51:20 point of the chronometer mention is made of the steel climbing structures , I distinctively remember the bars were galvanized steel ~ those bars would become polished smooth with thousands of people climbing up on them.

I felt sorry for the 70's kids. The sixties kids like me we had it made because we made what we played with from the alley.

YEP. The '60s kids had creativity on their side, turning whatever they found into fun. True ingenuity!

I am old. I can remember when Pong was an arcade machine (pre Atari at home).

Those clunky, coin-operated machines sparked an entire industry and paved the way for home gaming consoles like the Atari. If you remember that era, you witnessed the birth of video gaming history firsthand! 🎮

Beanbag chairs were half the exercise I got in the seventies. Getting into them was easy but getting out of them was a gym session on its own.

It’s funny how something so simple, like a beanbag chair, could have such a lasting impact on memories from childhood or youth in the '70s. The exercise involved in simply rising from one was often a source of lighthearted frustration! 😊

My mother remembers always picking up those lite bright pegs from the floor because I kept losing them. I always had a lunch box with the Peanuts characters on it.

Who remembers Hash jeans.Id kill for a pair today!

They were a key part of the "designer jeans" trend, which also included brands like Jordache and Calvin Klein. Many people today remember the distinct feel of those jeans and the premium price tag associated with them at the time. Though no longer as widely available, Hash jeans still evoke nostalgia for many who experienced the fashion scene during that era.
