Hello! Sorry about the late reply. This version I built had alot of tweaking to get right. Even then i wouldn't trust myself to make one for someone who is willing to pay. It's just to unreliable. If you want I can maybe provide a sketch as I have no plans. It is really basic to make.

@@scottcoleman9570 are all your rods straight? Just curious if it would work if it was curved

They are as straight as I could get them. Obviously with using flex track rails is you can work them around small bends as I had done to avoid obstacles under my layout.

First time viewer here. Really liking the switching operations. That is probably my favorite part of running on a model RR. You can only watch a train go round in circles so many times, but switching can offer so many operational options. That said, my little 2x3 foot (N scale) layout is a loop, but it has some small switching options as well. There are a few videos of it, but really, I have a long way to go on it. I really like the way your layout looks. Great job with it. I will have to come back and check out more of your videos for sure.
@scottcoleman957010 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting! Well, yes I love the switching operations more than anything. If you model a railroad you might as well model how they work. Not too many run around in loops. This is my first American model railroad I have done so im glad you like it!. Please definitely come on back to see more.

You have a nice layout there and that was a nice ops session. One question: Where did you get the railroad paperwork at 0:56?
@scottcoleman957010 ай бұрын
Hello Matt and thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed the video. The paperwork involved is the Micro mark waybill and car card system. Product Code #82916. The sheets of paper that have the switching instructions written on them are just simple docket book pages from the docket and receipt books you can find in stationery shops. Hope this helps! Cheers.

Wow. You nailed the details on this one! I live in San Antonio, TX and that’s what they use for switching and local runs at both yards here. We have a lot of other road names on UP lines so it’s always interesting to see oddball road names roll by, even from Mexico! Mexico makes a lot of hopper and oil cars so you’ll see brand new ones rolling north from Eagle Pass. Thanks for the video.

G'day from WA...nice GN unit...as for the "double banking" I think Bur Stewart does so.thing similar either with a cementapede or on his timber branch. Makes sense on an underpowered section.
@scottcoleman957010 ай бұрын
Cheers for stopping by! Yeah it's basically another aspect of operations not really seen much in model form.
@troy.peters10 ай бұрын
Great little switchers 👍. Why don't you black out the GN logo & letters and re-name the switcher for Powder River, like the mine bought an old GN engine. Add a small siding at powder river to store the switcher and leave it there. Use your UP engines to haul empties to the mine and drop them off for the switcher to do it's job loading the cars. When the cars are full, send the UP engines back with more empties and to pick up the loaded cars to haul to Oakhurst or Caliente.
@scottcoleman957010 ай бұрын
Thank you!. I have played around with that idea of a siding at Powder River to store such loco. Yes the switcher would look great patched up for the mine company. I'll have a look to see where best I could install a switch. Thank you very much for your input! Cheers
