A Martin 60 is 7.2 hp. It's pushing a 16.5 ft. boat with a non running 65 hp motor on it.

I have the exact same motor I bought the other day .it surges at idle then dies will start back up but then does the same thing .can anyone please help me .
@hansvanhouten17814 жыл бұрын
carburetor I'm guessing, or an air leak somewhere else, but I'd start w/ the carb. Go to martinoutboards website and buy a gasket kit. Take a part the carb, clean it, install the gasket kit, and reinstall and adjust as needed. It'll run good, just do what you have to for the carb. If you've never cleaned or rebuilt a carb, search it on youtube and you'll figure it out, it's really not that hard as long as you keep track of all the parts and take your time. Good luck.

I'm new to these engines and just acquired a "60.". Excuse the ignorance, but what exactly are the 3 knobs on the front for? I know one is choke and one is fuel shutoff but I can't find what the other one is for the life of me.
@ESmithStringSlinger6 жыл бұрын
Jon, the middle one is the Rich/Lean Fuel Mix Knob.

Thank you very much. I'm going to start in on this little motor this weekend and see how it goes.

You're welcome,Jon. If you need any parts, I have a 1950 Martin 60, this one in video needs a water pump impeller now.

Do you still have it? I have a spare prop.

That was 51 years ago, thanks for the offer and the memories, loved the motor it was fast, I think the prop flew off because the threads were stripped

In Bavaria, you will never get a Hefeweizen poured and served like that. It is unhygienic, plus the proper pouring process, or let's say "ritual", requires skill. One pours about 3/4 of the contents of the bottle into the previously rinsed out (cold water!), ~45° angled glass, doing so very carefully, to prevent any carbon dioxide to release prematurely. One then swirls up the yeast sediment in the bottle and pours it in the very middle of the glass in one fluid pour, creating a nice, foamy head that rises above the rim of the glass, being held there by the CO2-foam's surface tension. Please get your facts straight.

This is the only traditional and correct way there is.

I have some questions on the power trim for this motor! Mine says power trim on the front of cover, and has 2 rams on the bracket but that's it. It has a spot for a trim motor to plug into the shift control box. What am I missing? The pump? Does it thread into the rams at the bottom? Any help is REALLY appreciated!

I can assure you your way is not German Style!! I am not from Germany but I am sure they know at least in Bavaria how to serve a "Weizen Beer" Your way to serve a "Weizen Beer" is very unhygienic.

I also prefer that the bottle does not touch the glass. Pour the beer on about a 45 degree angle and leave some beer in the bottle. Swirl the left over beer in the bottle using only your wrists to swirl it, and then pour the left over beer to free the the yeast into the glass.

Nice video, you should try Weihenstephan. It's the best weizen by far! I think it's available in the States. Franziskaner is not that good to be honest.
@ianwragg89777 жыл бұрын
I personally think that in terms of quality there is not too much between Franziskaner and Weihenstephan. I pick up hints of lemon in the Weihenstephan that I do not get in Franziskaner, but in terms of enjoyment of the beer I find they are about on a par. And Franziskaner is a more reasonable price in Australia than either Weihenstephan or Erdinger. But if someone was going to buy me a nice wheat beer, I would not knock back any of the above, or Schöfferhofer, Benediktiner, or Paulaner. I enjoy them all.

That's a way to pour beer for friends. in restaurants they'd never dare to touch the beer with the "dirty" outside of the bottle. good choice with the franziskaner though and well done with the technique.

Franziskaner baby! I love it :)) But in bavaria you dont do it this way. I´ve "learned" it in one of the oldest brewery in the world, Weltenburger anno 1050. You should check how they do it in bavaria =) Anyway, nice to see that the american guys like our german beer =) Its really good especially the bavarian beer. greets

I know of the technique that you mentioned here, and I've done that. This is just another way to serve the Weizen. I'll post a "proper" way sometime soon :)
@DemDude12 жыл бұрын
This is horrible! You killed it! What you want to do is pour it, starting with the glass at a very flat angle, going steeper and steeper towards the end in order to get some good head going, when you have about 1/10th left in the bottle you stop and swish the bottle around in order to get all of the yeast off the bottom and just pour the rest in with enough force to go all the way through the head. Best case scenario, the outer bottle never touches the beer, and the head towers over the glass.

@706jim1 All literature I've seen for this motor rates it at 7.2 hp.The Martin "75" is a 7.5 hp motor.The Martin 60 sits to low in the water to make a boat plane out.Seems to work better when to adjust the trim knob and have more weight in the front of the boat.
