Utterly flabbergasted that Ken & Joseph haven't seen The Lion King (1994)!!!

I did eventually see The Lion King, probably with my younger cousins or niece and nephew years later, but at the time it came out I was in kind of the same boat as Ken & Joseph. I was in the middle of high school it never occurred to me to go see a Disney movie.

I insisted on adding "we would be honored if you would join us" to the bottom of our wedding invitations. I also want to give recognition to Jones reading the words of Bart Giamatti to open each game of the 1989 World Series. Finally -- just mentioning the words "Field of Dreams" causes my eyes to water. It's a cliche, but it's a cliche for a reason.

Um, akshully, Ms. Landa, that is Studio Ghibli with a “j” sound. Whereas the original word it is derived from has a hard “g” or “gh” sound, clearly the katakana used is “shi” with the two dot punctuation converting it to a “j” sound. Said in my imitation Ken nerd voice... I am, of course, being pedantic and annoying. Nothing but love for Jen, Ken and Joseph ❤

So fun trivia. There are mainly two components when you feel an earthquake. What are generally called primary and secondary waves, but also called pressure and sheer waves, respectively. What we first feel are the primary/pressure waves followed by the secondary/sheer waves and that has to do with how the waves propagate through the earth. Pressure waves gives you that “side to side” shake while the sheer waves give you the “up and down” shake. And the way early warning systems they have in Japan, Mexico and more recently along the west coast of the US (I think it’s called Shake Alert?) and other places work is to have seismometers that catch the p-wave first (b/c they travel through the earth faster) then based on that, can send an alert giving people precious time to take cover and get to safety before the s-wave hits. Of course, it’s not a flawless system in that, the closer you are to the epicenter of the quake, the less time there is between the two waves. Tangentially, there’s recent research that shows that fiber optic cables can be used to detect earthquakes in a similar fashion and the reason why this is significant is bc we have a lot of optic fiber cable in the oceans for our internet services and it’s been discovered that they can also use it as a quake detector instead of having to place dedicated seismometers in the deeper parts of the ocean.

Just a word about The Lion King: It really is a wonderful movie. A very under rated score from Hans Zimmer from a time before all his scores became BAHHHMMMM.

I've had yet to see anyone mention 'The Sandlot.' I grew up with that movie everywhere. It was the first time I actually SAW James Earl Jones. And it plays in the movie so well that no, he's not a big evil man, he's just a normal, friendly guy behind a myth.

Imagine the animated series about Luke&Ben Solo and First Order Rising (the series we all want so much). And one episode is told from the perspective of the Millennium Falcon (and it’s kinda sentient as we know). It has seen many battles and has gone to so many adventures and now it is bored. And somehow the MF comes across a line of YT ships like him. And there the scene happens, similar to one from Toy Story with Buzz Lightyear: they are all almost the “clones” of the MF, but not quite. They don’t share her perspective and history. That the MF “realizes”…

I think my personal concerns for Outlaws has more to do with the price point, some bugs, etc, but the game, itself, looks like something I’d be really interested in.

So you enjoy a show where a girl joins the man who killed her lesbian love interest and the friend she grew up with. Leslie really didn't give you much to work with did she.

This podcast is a joke. 🤣 The only way anyone would support Alex and Mollie at Star Wars Sexplained (FREAKS!!) is if they're fake Star Wars fans. A REAL Star Wars fan doesn't have an 'evolving' relationship with Star Wars. Your takes are 💩. Also Outlaws sux.

IF they do any adaptations (PLEASE, DO ADAPTATIONS), LFL needs to preface that there may be slight changes here and there cuz going from page to screen, there's always going to be a translation that needs to happen between the mediums. Get ahead of the game, so the complainers don't have that ammo..

Star Wars Explained tried to get other channels demonetized by mass reporting them. SWE deserves all the hate they are getting, and more. You clowns are just as bad for defending them.

Force center you have absolutely changed my opinion. I realize that yall don’t care bout havin real conversations if someone tries to address it. All three of y’all are the “white people” who has a “black friend”. This was very disheartening. Made me realize how fake everyone is who hides behind a computer screen and that Star Wars isn’t for me. Ken you talk about rebellion and politics, bro you won’t even have a convo if your comments. Let a bunch white dudes harass a black guy. Bunch a hypocrites. Used to look up to yall smh so much waisted time here.

There is a Zero Nill chance of not seeing another Falcon. I'd take a Lando at the Millennium used car Lot. I imagine the Falcon had its odometer messed with and a new paint job to be " good as new"

Thanks to Ken, Joseph and Jennifer! 📚 The makers really should try adapting novels into movies or tv series. I guess the general reason they don't do it is they think the twists or plotlines are known. But so many people *don't* read. Books to movies have happened since the beginning, the silent era. I wish Lucasfilm would give it a shot. An already beloved story brought to life could be a fun, new (or not-so-new in the larger sense) avenue to peruse.

Things become obsolete. Something like the original VW Beetle, mentioned in the conversation was popular, but over the years, you don't see many if any on the roads in your area. They are not upkept like a lot of classics. Also, some specific regions have manage to accumulate a number of the still operating vehicles, but overall, you don't see them widespread across the world any longer. Things seem to last longer in the Star Wars galaxy. Just think of the early Ford Models. One of the most mass produced vehicles of it's time, but you don't use them these days. The Millennium Falcon was once one of many models. It was adopted by someone that loved it and kept it going. Doesn't mean all models were treated the same way and have effectively disappeared.

Imagine an ancient storyteller, gathering the local tribe around that evening's fire to relay a tale passed through generations. The story concludes, the amassed people breathe a sigh of contemplation at what they'd heard, when one lone voice pierces the night exclaiming, "THE HORSE IN THE ORIGINAL STORY DIDN'T HAVE A WHITE STRIPE!"

I like the look of Outlaws but ive got too many games to play atm. Hopefully i can get gifted it for xmas. I Cannot Stand SW Theory. The guy and his fans are a menace. He’s a bully who thinks any criticisms he gets is a personal attack. I found you guys via Explained and i love both of your content. Seeing the sewer of bot trolls in the comments of some fan channels has been pretty gross to see. When i was growing up as a kid, all i had was my brothers to share my love of SW. Now i have millions of people from all over the world. Not all are nice people, but mostly are.

I wish I was a part of THIS convo! So many great possibilities with adaptations! Its a great way to get new eyes on the stiries from the comics & novels for those who are live action and animated only viewers. Been saying for years we need an animated "War of the Bounty Hunters" Disney+ feature would be top shelf Star Wars, for example.
