The "what did you do with your darkness" made me remember my favorite Clone Wars episodes when Yoda goes to face his dark side. He needed to confront it, face it, and in a way, control it. It should not control you or your actions, but it is never gone.

Thanks, Joseph! Thanks, Ken! Thanks, Jennifer! 🌑 It's great to see the energy absorption metal *cortosis* brought into live-action. 🔸 I'm glad *Ken* noticed a bit of the 'Kylo Ren' theme played as 'Qimir' knelt and covered 'Osha' with his cloak.
@Igor_the_Mad2 ай бұрын
The consistent element of Sith rhetoric is that it is paper thin, and almost every element of it relies on specific emotional manipulations that our heroes are usually unable or unwilling to just call out. Qimir's rhetoric throughout the episode is at the level of a intro-to-philosophy presentation by that smug nihilist we all know, but it works well because he already has the Jedi on the backfoot and too scared to think straight. Sol is emotionally compromised from Qimir having access to his secrets, Jecki and Yord are outright frightened. To me, this makes Mace Windu of all people even more impressive when he's able to just go point for point with Palpatine in the duel and debate during Episode III. Also, Yord Horde represent. 😢
@Vulcanerd2 ай бұрын
Yep. I said this elsewhere, but the Sith reasoning seems to boil down to, "The Jedi won't let me murder with impunity and run amok throughout the galaxy causing chaos!? How dare they! They don't understand me! I'm going to Hot Topic now!! /slams door/"
@highwayjonny4712 ай бұрын
I think The Stranger is doing what "Sith" always do. They act as if they are held in chains by the rules of the Jedi. The Strager says that in their eyes he can't exist. No, that's wrong, how you choose to exist is the reason you can't exist. As someone who is a cold blooded murderer the only place you're allowing yourself to exist in the eyes of the rest of the world is behind bars or worse. He could exist all he wants if he used the power the force gave him the way it should be used. For light... and life. Just because his skewed philosophy makes him feel targeted and alienated doesn't make the evil he so clearly puts into the world justifiable. The witches are a different story because we haven't seen them do anything inherently evil.

Love the knight of Ren idea, they're one of my favorite new ideas from the sequels and I love anything new we can learn about them. That being said, during this video I realized that the name Ren as explained in the "Rise of Kylo Ren" comics comes from the saber. Ren himself states that the saber is called Ren and they all essentially follow "it"? I think that's how it went, and if they change that it's fine or perhaps the Ren is just the saber of whoever is in charge of the group. Could go either way, just a lore tidbit I thought of. Love the videos as always!

As great as I thought this episode was, I have a few beefs with it and I think I still liked #3 better? My first is that it seems more than a little odd that Sol can't tell that it's Mae he's going back to the ship with and not Osha despite having been her master for nearly 10 years and seemingly sharing a special connection while he's barely spent any time with Mae. Secondly, Mae goes to Kelnaca's cabin to turn herself in and when Jecki shows up to arrest her... she resists? But why? You came to the cabin to turn yourself in and she's there to take you into custody... I think I had a third, but I will have to come back to it later, it's slipped my mind lol. I loved everything about the fights and the choreography, I was shocked and surprised both Jecki and Yord both went out, but it makes sense that most or all of these guys were going to have to die. Still didn't make it any easier b/c Jecki was adorable and I liked Yord who was just trying to figure out what it meant to be a Jedi and where the rails/rules were and I was liking that little road he was on figuring that out.
@gbvraul2 ай бұрын
I'm right there with you on all counts. Loved the show for the most part, but I too wondered why Mae didn't just let Jecki arrest her, and how Sol couldn't sense that it was Mae when he comes to from the stun. My third (and it may not be what you were thinking, lol) is after Sol clearly goes out of his way to save Mae, and she knows Kamir feels betrayed by her, why wouldn't she help the Jedi?
@Vulcanerd2 ай бұрын
@@gbvraul Yep! You even see Jecki save Mae from Qimir’s death blow and put her life in jeopardy for her, you’d think she would believe the Jedi by now. Otoh, I guess we still don’t know what happened that night on Brandok.
@djshiva2 ай бұрын
I think the idea of going back to turn herself in was pretty much trashed when her Master showed up to kill her. THAT is why she fought Jecki. She knew that her Master was powerful enough to kill them all and being handcuffed was putting her at a disadvantage to get away. She was afraid. Simple as.

The Kilo theme wasn't for Qi'mir but for Osha. It is played right at the start of the episode when she's picking up PIP and then again when the camera focuses on her limp body. The idea is that Kilo turned to the dark side when his master Luke failed him (when Luke was about to kill Kilo when he was younger). In this episode, Osha is the one who realizes that Sol betrayed her by keeping the truth away from her. LIke Kilo, Osha will turn to the Dark side.

Still haven't clicked with this series, but I've been enjoying each episode more and more, so I might end up liking this after all. Some good ideas and great looks can't hide the clunky dialogue and underbaked script. I'm also very aware that this series is not for me: haven't read any HR books and a bit Jedi-d out; happy to see others enjoy it and hopefully it helps to truly open the SW world!

Lots of good take aways here but missing the execution. And too many scene swipes... Wanting Sol to be the master cause I dont think anything else will really light a spark for me. During the Brendock fire/explosion/fallout the witches mind wiped him of all dark intentions that he and maybe even the other jedi were plotting [Qimir even calls out mind wiping the 'first' time they meet in the shop]. The witch fight hit the other jedi hard as well, spooked Kalnacca, Indara and Tobin into going straight/hiding rather than pursuing dark side practices. Sol already had an apprentice though, Qimir, who was jealous Sol was seeking another. Maybe he caused the explosion as way to prevent Sol taking a new apprentice. Then Qimir found Mae and brought her up under the two facades. Qimir is well trained with saber and in hand to hand held his own with Sol. Just saying... Or its Vernestra/Corrill somehow.. hope not

@JoeyPeligro692 ай бұрын
What I’m really enjoying about this show and particularly this episode is that NEITHER the Jedi or Qimir’s Sith is “good” or “right”. Qimir is true in his wish for freedom from underneath the boot of the Jedi order. The Jedi are true in their quest to keep people safe. But both are incredibly, incredibly flawed
@JoeyPeligro692 ай бұрын
Also, Qimir’s philosophy is true, but it is not quite a guise, but an easy path toward their goals. Manipulation. A Jedi’s complacence is just as cruel as a sith’s wrath.
@mrvoltar2 ай бұрын
I'm really beginning to think that the entire narrative is as though it was written by the sith (except some of the Mae stuff) and I think a lot of the Mae/Osha scenes are what Mae's light-side interventions look like to a dark-side Osha. I'm buying Osha as a jedi about as much as I'm buying Mae as a sith.😉

So Sol and jackie were with the other jedi when the last episode ended. So where were they in the beginning of the episode when all the other jedi were fighting? Literally the 2 best fighters decided to take a lunch break while all their jedi comrades die. I dont get how this episode is getting praise its still doesn't make sense.
@hawkeyemihawkgettingmoneylord2 ай бұрын
@@highwayjonny471 everything you said makes no sense why would Sol and jeckie be thrown further away from everyone else? If they were why did it take them forever to get back to the fight are you suggesting that just 2 of them got flung to the other side of the forest somehow? Why can't you just be honest and say it doesn't make sense it's bad writing. And yord is irrelevant to what I'm talking about the end of episode 4 when all 8 jedi got force thrown. And Yord was there fighting with the other nameless jedi your talking about later in the episode.
