Can you use the 4" version of these to attach pieces of 2" x 8" blocking between deck joists, or do you need a stronger screw?

Old heads are stuck in their old ways. There are now screws that are compliant to frame with and have similar sheer strength to a 16 penny nail. Make sure you read the box. I used these screws building my deck which is 20x40 and it passed code. Not to mention I had 20 people walking on it at the Christmas party and not a squeek. GRK and Spax are the best screws out.

Lots of B.S. with these structural screws. Yes, I use them and like the ease of use. However, I have demolished a couple of decks that used these and the screws were quite rusty for 2-5 years in service. I have also seen 20 year old hot dipped lags that were about like new upon removal. Stronger than lags, not sure about that claim. Also, GRK seams to have gotten worse in quality since day one, I have had many break on me lately. I know my last batch said made in Taiwan. Also had an instance with the normal 9 or 10x3 construction screws snapping due to pressure treated lumber shrinking in the sun.

Can you use for metal studs?

The problem is wood screws are so expensive at the big box stores. In comparison years ago you could buy a bag of basic wood screws for a pretty decent price.

I saw a box of GRK structural screws and they are $279.00!!!

hi. Thank you for video. I have a uPVC frame and a heavy entrance door. the upvc thick is about 3 - 4 mm and the screw come out. the frame has a thin metal bar inside but the scres are coming out. Please give me an idea about what to fit inside of hols in upvc frame to screw in for a heavy door: resin with drill bits ? what exactly ? many thanks !

GRK are not strong they feel good going in but they break. I wouldn’t buy any of their products I have had nothing but problems with this company.

GRK doesn’t make good screws. I have had nothing but problems with them breaking. I would think twice about getting any GPK. I have no confidence in their products.

GRK screws break!!Beware these are not good screws! Very disappointed in the product!!! Save your time, money, and frustration and buy another brand. I’m a general contractor and I know many guys that feel the same about GSK screws.

GRK doesn’t deserve your business I had a bunch of screws break and they did nothing about it. It was clear that they don’t care about their customers. I would save your money and buy a different product!!

GRK #9 x 3 1/8 screws are JUNK. I am a general contractor and I used these to screw off my personal deck and about 70% or more of them snapped after the first year! I had the rep for the company come out and the offered to give me a couple boxes of screws (ohh great give me more of something that obviously doesn’t work) I am REALLY REALLY DISAPPOINTED in this company and the product. Buyer beware!! These are junk!!!

I've used GRK screws exclusively for years. Unfortunately in the last year I've started to see the quality drop. I've even had several snap on me which I didn't think I'd ever see. I have to wonder if GRK hasn't followed down the same path as many other corporations and offshored production for short term profit. Time for someone else to earn my loyalty?

How do these work with MDF or extira?
