RSS vs Lag Screws

I want to hang a porch swing from my deck and was recommended to use these fasteners. I can't find anywhere what the load support is on a vertical hanging structure...

Lots of B.S. with these structural screws. Yes, I use them and like the ease of use. However, I have demolished a couple of decks that used these and the screws were quite rusty for 2-5 years in service. I have also seen 20 year old hot dipped lags that were about like new upon removal. Stronger than lags, not sure about that claim. Also, GRK seams to have gotten worse in quality since day one, I have had many break on me lately. I know my last batch said made in Taiwan. Also had an instance with the normal 9 or 10x3 construction screws snapping due to pressure treated lumber shrinking in the sun.

Great video if you’re using a battery driver... I use a corded drill and really don’t have these issues

How do these compare to 8.8 metric bolts? Just curious what the hardness is so I can decide which size to buy.

It may look like that but the Lag and RSS screws are indeed the same 5/16 x 4" size. Thanks for watching!

GRK are not strong they feel good going in but they break. I wouldn’t buy any of their products I have had nothing but problems with this company.
