Here's how i write I just grab a notebook and a pen and think about something like a feeling that i have felt in past and that's it feelings are endless and can't be described in words and you can explain and explain and go on and end up writing a song but don't forget to sing along to get a good melody.

you do not need a concept. you do not need a title and you do not need a song map. you just need to write songs.

In 8:32 you say we accept the F-Chord because it was primed before. Out of step with the now shifted to Bb-key is the new C-Chord, though, not the F-Chord. Maybe the new introduced key here is not Bb-major but Bb-Mixolydian, and that sounds more complicated, but it isn't, because it involves the same notes as a F-major scale and only introduces one new and thus strange and unharmoic flat note (the Bb), as opposed to adding that one and also adding Eb like in Bb-major it would happen.

i didn't knew it unttill now. so i listen. and i think this is no more than the 4 chord spit. it's transposed at the very moments where it's about to reveal itself. like a hovering a milimeter above the master cliche. transposed very quickly.

I just wrote the poem I’ve been trying to write my entire life with the first method, THANK YOU 🙏 vvv Slinking around the birdhouse, I wandered through walls of stone Sheltered from the elements, My breath, hot against the window. I would graze on flowers, Collecting vines and yarrow For every bite to sting me A juicy leaf of aloe To live in a forest of moss, Rather than a cage of words and metal Hiding while the papers burn To Forage to survive, and weave necklaces in the meadows Neath the breathing blankets of Gaea, I yearn to be Though the men would hunt me still, Leaving behind them a trail of bones But if I live, who may remain? Should I wait to hear the bellowed cries?, Or to meet their lifeless eyes? To live in a forest of moss, Rather than a cage of words and metal Hiding while the papers burn To Forage to survive, and weave necklaces in the meadows Neath the breathing blankets of Gaea, I yearn to be Even by the creaking oak, whom knows it will be soon, her time. The children lift our masks, And ignorant, steal our paintings But if it’s what will be, I will take it. If it means to leave my cage of words behind.

The reversed model is the method I use .. Since I was kid I write down how songs was constructed .. Carpenters, Thin Lizzy etc etc .. and still do today as a almost 62 year old, after a massive stroke.

It's fun to play but tricky to remember the chord sequence. Even Nita Strauss said that. Really great song. Also: the "shock" of the unexpected key changes is highly appropriate for the subject matter of the lyrics. Its genius. Great point about dynamics too. I was never an Alice Cooper fan but I used to hear this song a lot at a rock club and it always stood out as something special.

Isn't the first section of The Joke just in the Key Of G based around the D chord.I work it out from the melody. The Am7 is the 2 chord. So I then play the G major scale over it. Later it includes G minor and F sharp major. So it alters theoretically but that first part is fine as a Key of G.

There's a parallel dominant relation between the 2nd and 3rd line. But that's not really important. Chords don't need to make sense when analyzing the progression going forward. Our ears make sense of chords based on where they go. You can borrow any chord you want and throw it in just about anywhere. All that matters is that it eventually finds its context. It's like using an A Major chord in the key of C Major. It makes sense as V/V/V. And so if the progression goes A Major - D Major - G Major - C Major, it makes perfect sense. That was the simplest example, but I think it suffices.

Great content and really thought-provoking :) In Chord Progression 3, why do you call the 2nd chord G♭ over B♭? Since you're in the key of B minor, wouldn't F♯ over A♯ be more consistent with the original key?

I partially disagree with your analysis of the intro riff. It's actually D mixolydian and Bb lydian. The interval choices 1-2-3-4-b7 (over D) screams mixolydian while 3-#11-j7 (over Bb) screams lydian.
