@thediscoveriesofАй бұрын
I would say that the group tours can be a great way to meet people - although I had a driver and guide for the Atacama, over the border in Bolivia I did the four day salt flats tour with a group and we had the most fun together! Definitely set some specific time aside for stargazing, whether on a tour or solo - the night skies light up like a beacon

Planning a trip to Norway next year and I'm going over your videos, they've been the most helpful so far! 😁 Question: do you think going to Tromsø as someone who doesn't really know how to drive in the snow is still a good idea? I'd love to explore the islands and beautiful places in the North, but idk if that would be possible without driving 😢
@thediscoveriesofАй бұрын
Thank you! I’m so excited that you’re planning to go to Norway, it’s incredible! Yes, I definitely think it’s worth going to Tromsø if you can’t drive - if you do, make sure you book a hotel in the centre and book onto tours- I loved the one I did with Wondering Reindeer to see the reindeer and Sami people and you’ll easily be able to book northern lights tours, and tours to places like the ice domes / wider islands plus things like the fjellheisen cable car you can get to using public transport. I don’t think you’ll have quite the same flexibility but I definitely think it’s still worth going ☺️
@reereereenaАй бұрын
@@thediscoveriesof Thank you so much! 😁 Would more saving be necessary for a trip with more tours instead of a car? I'm still on the early stages of planning but I've checked a couple tours and found them to be very expensive 😅
@thediscoveriesofАй бұрын
@reereereena yes - the tours are definitely pretty expensive. I’d suggest choosing a couple you really want to go on and then planning the rest of your activities around the city itself ☺️

Great video. Thank you. I’m wondering how successful cruise ship excursions are. Do you know of anyone who has experience with northern lights cruising?
@thediscoveriesofАй бұрын
Thank you - really glad you enjoyed. I’ve not been on a northern lights cruise and don’t know anyone who’s tried it unfortunately. For me, I think the key would be choosing one where they have a decent itinerary of activities as sightings can be so unpredictable. That said, I think it could be a great idea for seeing them in quite a few different locations on one trip!
@user-qn4bq2ct4zАй бұрын
This intriguing and vast country has indeed wet my appetite to travel. The many sights that there seemed to be to catch your attention in am amazing array of variety. The lakes and the milkyway caught my attention. But also the hot steam coming out of the rocks were very close contenders. That there is an extensive itinerary of places to visit is beyond doubt. But what I really like is you can choose your destinations and budget accordingly. Whether by camper van. Or guided tours it seems there is an opportunity to get to see some of the marvels on offer. I personally feel I would like to make two trips. Just because I feel I would suffer from sensory overload. Well done Julianna, for showing us something that I would not of considered as my ideal destination. But is now, definitely on my bucket list of places to see. 😊
@thediscoveriesofАй бұрын
Thank you! I’m so glad that it put Chile on your travel horizons - it’s such an amazing country, filled with spectacular landscapes that don’t look real and I don’t think it gets enough hype if I’m honest. I focused on heading north on this trip but head down south to Patagonia and it’s just as spectacular but in a completely different way. You really can plan your trip to suit your budget - and you’ll have an amazing time too - there is such a crazy amount of things to see that I definitely agree with the idea of two trips!

@thediscoveriesofАй бұрын
Hey there! It is a risk in Costa Rica - I wore clothing permeated with insect repellent and made sure I had on long sleeves and trousers where possible, along with spraying myself with insect repellent. I travel to quite a few places with dengue / malaria so always try to take these precautions when I do.

KP index is not a good way of measuring activity, As its based on the previous 3 hour average, So normally apps or websites that use the KP index for alerts occur after the event. Its better to use Substorm growth and expansion levels, that use the magnetometer stackplots

I've looked at a several videos of visitors remarking how aggressive and conniving Egyptians are, as it pertains to scamming. I appreciate how informative your video and itinerary suggestions are, however, did you experience any of these offenses during your stay? Your experience seems quite pleasant. Also, did you travel alone?
@thediscoveriesof2 ай бұрын
Hey - good question. I think this is a tough one. I was part of a group tour on this trip but I spent a lot of time exploring alone - visiting destinations, museums and heading to markets etc. Did I definitely run across a couple of situations where I was clearly being set up to be scammed? Absolutely - there were tonnes of people outside the Great Pyramid alone telling me that my ticket wasn't valid and trying to get me to buy a new one. Did I think these situations affected the quality of my trip? No. I personally didn't find them too aggressive, but I do know that other people (including one of my really close friends) have had different experiences. I would go back to Egypt in a heartbeat and I'd go solo too, but I'll be the first to say that I have a relatively high threshold before these things really bother me. My advice, don't let it put you off going - Egypt is amazing, there is just nowhere like it - but do prepare for some unwanted interactions. Hope that helps.
