By the time the trip rolled around, things weren’t looking promising - the forecast was terrible (nothing but cloud and a low KP) but I was so glad I did a few things that really helped maximise my chances of seeing the Northern Lights - from booking a Northern Lights hotel to downloading a million apps to help predict where the best places would be to see the aurora (or where would be the least cloudy), it was an incredible experience.
Those nights, despite the bitter cold, were some of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring nights of my life.
All in all, I’d highly recommend visiting Tromso for the Northern LIghts. The northern lights aren’t a sure bet anywhere in the world, but Tromso is a fantastic destination to try and see them.

Nice! We stayed in the same place and saw them right after dinner. Did you do the crab experience? We thought it was really cool. We were there during a crazy storm so hardly had any gaps in the clouds at all!

It’s a great place to stay isn’t it? Glad you caught the lights during your trip, even with the storm - it would have been a shame not to see them at all! I didn’t try the crab experience- I hadn’t booked it the night we ended up in the restaurant but looked great 🙌🏾

At the moment it’s a long-ish Asia trip at the end of next month but very tempted to squeeze in a European city break first. Best of luck with catching the whales in Boston, that will be brilliant 🙌🏾
