It is abeautifull aircraft , beautifull , beautifull , but no , your only half way there . I design and build seaplane cars to go in your garage from your driveway / street . I've worked in / with hydroplanes ( 370 mph ) for thirty years . I started with a A/I craft in 1965 . Misure Santo's Dumont was the first successful pilot with his " bliss 14". Then came the Wright bro's , who mother told them how to build the. " Wright flyer " and their sister then worked and her money paid for it . They made a contract with the Smithsonian to tell everyone they were the first , but records / document demonstrait this was false . Mom figured it out but died of turbuculosls , without any credit . Misure Dumont was covered up . But not in the records . Hls familys made coffee's. Secrets of the most advanced air craft on this earth . The space shuttle wing does 15,000 mph at rentry . Another secret , a truck with a hypersonic wing with a maximum heat tolerance . But the Equater is beautiful , and you spent a hell of a lot of franc's on it . Keep the cabin , then put the other technologies on from there. Changes dramatically. An aircraft that floats , goes up to 15,000 mph . Goes to Safeway , parks in the garge all by its self , and talks with you . -------‐--‐---‐‐---Hello , Micheal Knight .

Then there was the nutron car , made a movie out of it , it's pretty close . But if you can , give momma Wright the credit , she figured it out for the boys , befor she died . Read th data !

I had not scene this video about how quickly (short distance) this aircraft can exit the water surface. Now if they could make a version of this as a fire fighting aircraft I would buy one.

I love it. In my opinion the best actual seaplane in the world. Great range, unbelieveable STOL abilities and truely amphibius. I think if they do better marketing, they could sell it much more worldwide. And if they could sell more it will also get cheaper (because it is awfully expensive)

If you trace the heritage of the flying boat actually starts with the H8K Emily flying boat. Post War the manufacturer decided to evolve it by taking engines from American Military hardware US-1 which was taking H8K Emily flying boat airframe with pave low GE T407s and then this one US-2 which is your H8K Emily flying boat airframe with AE2100s from C-130J

What i would give to see this come back (but with modern engines and amphibious mode with landing gear)
First flight 1948 and still no real replacement. Nice to see Vancouver included.

Your use of the Harry James song, "It's been a long, long time" is not from the 1930's, it is from 1945, celebrating the return of GI's from overseas. By that time, landplanes had completely eclipsed the flying boat in commercial aviation.

When it does a water takeoff, they leave a heck of a water spray trail after getting airborne. It seems to last for miles.

That's an amazing seaplane !! Powerful engines obviously for such a short takeoff roll 👍🇺🇸 Well done 👍
@laura-ann.0726 Жыл бұрын
They are Rolls Royce turboprops, 4,600 shaft horsepower each; same engines and propellers that the C-130J is equipped with. The US-2 is probably the "most capable" amphibian seaplane ever developed. It's stall speed is incredibly slow for such a huge airplane; less than 55 knots.

Looks like the makers of this aircraft have discovered an effective anti-gravity device? How in the world does it lift off in 300 meters? In a mere 10 seconds, or so, too. "Blown wings"? I need to do some research. What an incredible aircraft.

На нём, ни 4, а 5 двигателей. Пятый, (турбина), создаёт разрежение, что и позволяет взлетать с очень короткого пробега.

Only just found this. It almost brings a tear to my eye. When I was a nipper we moved from Swindon to the Isle of Wight where my Dad, an aircraft engineer, joined Saunders Roe and worked on the Princess. Aviation changed dramatically during it’s development, resulting in the concept being shelved, but what a machine. Sad but inevitable that the three airframes suffered severe corrosion and had to be scrapped…..

Borey is an amphibious aircraft in the LSA class, a huge trunk in terms of capacity and weight, high cruising speed and the ability to operate from a wave of 0.5 meters for an ordinary private pilot
@BetterAircraftFabric Жыл бұрын
As a pilot with 27 years of flying in Alaska I think the Borey is the most viable. I have flown a lot on Ski here and the average snow with ice would really make a mess of that Akoya. To claim that thing can operate from snow is nothing but advertisement- not based on reality of Ski operations.

why seaplanes aren't used to supply help in countries who suffered severe flooding ?
@tunkunrunk Жыл бұрын
@Xarifa Zee excuse me ? SEA-PLANE the answer is in the noun . The helicopter is not the answer , it is costly to operate and sensitive to weather . the only ways are small boats and sea plane , because all the road are under water , no car and truck may drive through
