I found this very helpful. My care team never mentioned LARS to me, nor clustering. i had to search it out for myself, in the southeastern US.

Thank you for sharing your experience with rectal cancer. I am a 73 year old man who was diagnosed with T3b N0M0 rectal cancer in September 2022. My cancer was found after a major rectal bleeding event. I had chemo radiation in November 2022, IV FOLFOX chemo in the winter of 2023,cancer free from April 2023 til December 2023, LAR surgery to remove a recurrent cancer in my rectum January 2024 and had my ileostomy reversed in May 2024. Unlike you there was no cancer in my lymph nodes. Currently I am cancer free since January 2024.

I have LARS- but from having a destroyed pelvic floor due to having had 2 very large babies naturally 40+ years ago! And I am confined to a wheelchair now. The only exercise I can get is using my arms, which does nothing for my gut. I am incontinent all day/every day and night. I do not feel any urge to go. 1:39 It is horrible. My stomache is huge. I am also diabetic- so I HAVE to eat- which makes it even worse.

Thank you for sharing this webinar! I'm stage 3b T3N2 (4 lymph nodes), and my Signatera came back negative post-surgery. I know ctDNA is guiding ACT treatment decisions for Stage 2/low-risk 3 ; but for us in the high-risk stage 3 category, what prognostic impact does a negative Signatera really have? For me, it gave me the confidence to do only 3 months of CAPOX and continue the Capecitabine for the full 6 months. I'm on my fourth month right now, and anxiously awaiting my next Signatera result. I guess what I'm asking is: does the confidence in a negative Signatera post-surgery hold any weight for the high-risk stage 3 patients like myself? Thank you for your time!🙏

thank you for sharing. I am a 48 year old male with symptoms.. I have worked with radiation 14 years ago and my abdomen was unfotunately exposed. I have not had any focus on bowel habits since I have been under a lot of stress lately.. But in retrospect I have had more cases of diarrea the last 9 months than what I have had earlier... Then suddenly 3 weeks ago I started to get permanently bloated. I have the past week analysing my stool and at two occasions i think i see a tiny amount of blood.. will do the search for hidden blod tomorrow. I

Avoiding the severe anxiety associated with recurrence, it should be offered by Medicare (Quebec). Recurrence has been the hardest to deal with since cancer diagnosis.

I wish I was offered this test recently. I’m stage 4 Braf mutation with metastasis peritoneal, small bowel, pancreas etc. Had HIPEC 2022. By far, The worst part of my disease has been the fear of recurrence to the point of the anxiety taking over. I’m currently three scans in of NED. Can I get this done on my own without medical referral?
@Kat-xl9cf7 ай бұрын
Yes! Contact Signatera so they can walk you through process. Insurance covers this bit if not Signatera will cover expense. They will contact your hospital to obtain tissue from your biopsy to test for any reoccurrence in your body. Good luck!

GOD bless you for striving to overcome this disease. I have found that reading the words of The Bible and believing the words are true helps that individual to experience healing. I would say It Is Better to believe GOD and seek his help, because Doctors give diagnosis but GOD is the one who gives you everyday life to see the dawning of each day. Give thanks to GOD, and the more you thank him, and live your life with GOD in mind to obey his word will do you most good towards your healing. You must believe that GOD will heal you. In the King James Version Of The Holy Bible it is written : “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” In my youth, I don’t recall if I had mental exhaustion and then got infected with ecoli bacteria from swimming in the soiled area of the lake near the shore, but I tried getting out of my bed one morning, but my whole body felt like jello and even the sound of the Car’s engine as my mother took me to the hospital was greatly slowed down and did not sound like how I remembered! I came back home and in my bed I struggled to survive! The point of contact for my faith in GOD was that same Bible verse I quoted to you from The King James Version. Contain your natural force and strength GOD gave you, so this can help you too to recover. I needed all my strength combined with strength of spirit from believing GOD’S word and thanks be to GOD the illness left my body! From the Bible: “ The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity, but a wounded spirit who can bear ?” Proverbs18:14

I had stage 3 rectal cancer. Initially my doctor thought it was a prolapsed hemorrhoid but I took matters into my own hands and went private. I found through family connections a colorectal specialist who carried out a flexible sigmoidoscopy. Within 48 hours I was diagnosed, after a whole battery of tests. I enrolled in a clinical trial in which I did 6 rounds of chemo (Folfox and 5-Fu), followed by four rounds of radiation ( very painful), followed by rectal resection surgery and a final six rounds of chemo. While I maintained a positive upbeat attitude throughout the ordeal ( I had two emotional breakdowns during the chemo), it was only after that the real problems began. My mental health took a nosedive. This in combination with a whole host of drugs I had to take for pain management, anxiety and sleep problems. I had s as ptsd diagnosis, but this wasn’t followed up on. I saw two psychiatrists, but instead of counseling they just wanted to pump me full of drugs, which made everything worse. About 11, years later I’m still in remission, and I’ve weaned myself off the benzodiazepines, and the opioid pain meds ( exercise and medication), but the lingering trauma still exists and comes back in full force when I least expect it. This whole episode threw me off because before my diagnosis, I’d always been athletic. I had no risk factors. My oncologist just said “ it’s the environment”. I kept a diary throughout v the process but reading it causes me to breakdown. The chemo memories are the worst

I'm 34 and got diagnosed at stage 4. Mine wasn't genetic it was created via stress. One surgeon is confident that I'll fly through it but the colorectal doctor I have at the moment keeps telling me they can't cure it and that it'll probably be the end... I haven't even started treatment yet and I'll be fasting during treatment so that my body can protect itself during the "treatment" I hate the doctor and I haven't told her to shove it because she's pregnant. I CHOOSE TO LIVE! What should I do about the negative doctor?

Knowing early ( molecular residual disease or early recurrence ) is certainly good but preventing development of cancer would be far better. May be our generation would not be fortunate enough to benefit from such scientific marvels.

Does anyone ever reverse the reversal? My LARS is so bad that I think I was better off when I had the stoma, and I might be better off if a surgeon could restore the stoma my backside wouldn't hurt all the time and I wouldn't have this feeling of full-ness all the time.

Bless your soul, 32 y/o thought I was healthy watched what I ate in military and got hit with stage 4 rectal cancer liver Mets. I recently completed 12 rounds of chemo , short coarse radiation to my pelvis, Right liver resection. And I’m feeling well my kids (2 under 2) definitely keep my mind body and soul occupied. Bt since my last round of scans in June I was NED. My colorectal surgeon is approaching rectal primary by watch/ wait since it looked like scar on scan. Routine liquid blood biopsies for ctDNA along with CEA levels. Thanks for sharing , I’m doing my best to spread awareness to the ppl around me. Big thanks to the professionals at Cleveland clinic & Parkview health, without them I don’t know what health state I’d be in.
