The one I have is more of a mix of the two. It does still have the cheese wheel but this one you can use your cheese to move your opponents piece when they have landed in the wheel. You can steal pieces of cheese from one another. It almost act like a currency. And the mechanism is the same as the older one. That lift is pretty cool though.

@calboy28 сағат бұрын

@trenthawkins8 сағат бұрын
The helping hand was always the most temperamental part to set up in the original (at least with my set). If you didn't put it in juuuust right, it would either set off the thigamagig at the slightest jostle, or completely ignore the metal bearing. the broom lever looks like a more reliable mechanism, and it lets the bearing continue instead of a second ball.

Have my mid 70s white box Ideal version. The helping hand originally had a spring ro push it up and a large green plastic bowling ball on the thingamigig which made that part much more reliable. We played this and the original Buckaroo for years (still got that too). Most games then had large boxes to make storage easy. I hate these new open boxes where stuff falls out easily, especially the ones with huge holes in them to entice people to try out a feature like the timer on Perfection. The modern, assemble it yourself each time, Hungry Hippos is a prime example. Its like the manufacturer actually encourages you to loose parts lol!

I played Mouse trap when I was a kid but, there must have been one that was made between the 1986 and the 2021 version, because the character pieces i remembered look different than the 1986 one and i was too old for the 2021 version

The fact that it's a flagship product is probably the reason the box is disappointing. A more niche product probably only exists because someone who cares pushed for it.

I prefer the old mechanism, its more tense and suspensful because its slower, wider arcs, runs for slightly longer and less obvious what will happen. More of a swinging side to side then a violent shake attempt to knock everyone off. Also the sound of the original is more akin to an eerie sound then the new deep motor sound, but I agree its probably more pleasant, I just think the intention originally wasn't to be pleasant intentionally.
@OldCrappyCouch7 күн бұрын
I can very much see your point about the difference in function when it comes to swinging the bridge. I do feel the older version is much more dramatic.

Wait what do the ruby and look side do?
@OldCrappyCouch7 күн бұрын
Ruby allows you to pick up a ruby from the idol, the ground, or steal it from another player sharing your space. Look allows you to trade places with another explorer who is sharing your plank on the bridge so you can have the more stable footing. It gets to be a very petty competition as you race across the bridge!
@JollibeenosHasYourCoordinates8 күн бұрын
Yooo, the way those pieces clung on to that bridge, if I didn't see it happen, I would've guessed that you put them in those positions, that's awesome
