I agree with you here, they were nice collectors' items. Physical media for video games is becoming less and less. With the exception of buying $100+ preorders, it's rare for the consumer to receive anything of that caliber anymore and it is a shame in my opinion.

It really is a shame, and I don't think we'll see art books make a comeback either. Ironically some of the best art books came with relatively mid games. Jason and the Argonauts and Damnation both had really nice art books for example. Totally sold me on the games!
