I don’t know why I’m struggling with it. Everything works perfectly and I’m autopilot and atc are on and tracking the glide-slope and localizer. Flaps full, gear down, hook down, but it always keeps missing the cable and slams the aircraft on the deck damaging the landing gear. I can tell the finally approach is a bit high on final approach. I do fine with case 1 and manual landing. Any tips?

Thanks a bunch! I’ll definitely give it a try. It worked so well coupled, I thought it could auto land without any pilot intervention from 21 miles. I was really hoping to fly into zero visibility at night.

Hi, I followed your explanation on how to set the Thrustmaster HOTAS Stick and TQS Throttle Thrustmaster. But I have a slight problem with my Trim Swith... the setting is done like your instructions. In flight i can trim for a few seconds and than the Switch reacts as a view switch!? What is or can be the cause? In A-10 mode flying with the Thrustmaster HOTAS WARTHOG and HOTAS Stick the Trim Switch on the Thrustmaster HOTAS Stick works and act normal trimming the fighter A-10 as asked. The view out of the cockpit is done by the Mouse. Do you have any explanation for the problem described of the F_16C settings on the HOTAS Stick in F_16C mode?

You seem to have the trim switch also bound to view keys. You'll want to unbind the view assignments.

I don't understand why these tutorials weren't in the initial release. They went from starting the F16, to takeoff, to landing and immediately went to how to fire weapons.

Matt, how did you populate the planes, equipment and personnel with so many items. My version of mission editor gives me only a few. I cant insert the ones you use. Does the newer DCS vwersions limit this???my version is 2.9.11.4686. all your videos are great, very helpful--keep em coming..

When I bind TDC it takes over roll and pitch from stick. 😔 Edit: Fixed. Turned Unrealistic off in Special Tab. 🙂👍

Checklist if not working : Enable TCN/DL/ICLS/ACLS in mission editor, set name and unit to same. Ensure TCN DL and ILS is set on hornet same to CV. Hit the TCN - ILS - and ACL mode on HSI Call up carrier Follow ACL instructions on MFD At 6-5mikes , ATC engage at 140ish knots on speed, flaps down and hook, and hit A/P (autopilot) and hit CPL mode. Unengage A/P and ATC when at ball call on final and fly centerline on tadpole. Ensure scales are on , ensure checklist is complete and ensure ACL mode is set prior to lineup. Wtw fail means frequency was wrong or something is dialed in incorrectly which can be fixed in mission editor (make sure you give names to the tasks and make sure your task is linked to the unit aswell and the freq/channels are correct and you ensure all 4 (TCN, ILS, ACLS AND LINK4 are set and named/linked) _OK_ 3 wire everytime guarentee

You should not be coupled, all the way to the trap. Once in the groove and called the ball, you should be flying manually.

@MattWagner does same apply for fog visability that is less than 500 ft, for instance a snowsqual or heavy fog or both? I have been doing some landings in less than favourable conditions (like a true Canadian lol) and everytime I decouple 3/4 of a mile I still can't see a damn thing until my nose is about 200 ft from the deck and kinda sketch my input will throw me off tadpole. I'm guessing you just fly the tadpole then as best you can when you have zero vis on mom?

You don't really "lock" the Hellfire, you manually maintain the targeting on the desired target. We have been doing some OP's in a group lately, testing out the new directors etc. And there are a few things we'd like to point out. Would be great to get some feedback on these; 1. First off, a bug where people parked will be unable to get the directors to allow taxi whenever someone who had contacted the air boss for landing, either crash, or get disconnected from the server (maybe force some sort of abort inbound when the player dies or disconnects to stop this from happening and allowing the parked planes to move again). 2. Will there be a way to disable certain CAT's, either through air boss, context meny, or if a CAT is blocked by static objects/players? 3. This would probably be reliant on point no.2, but will there be more parking slots allocated later on? As in the front of the ship (CAT 1/2 Area) for example, to support more players at once on deck? 4. A way to make the directors more dynamic on where they send aircraft instead of being parking spot related? Either by allowing a request for a certain cat in the parking menu or something, or by making it reliant on order of taxi request, so that there is an even use of all CAT's at all times. So as an example; first request gets sent to CAT 1, 2nd to CAT 2 etc. Or a priority value so they send you to the closest CAT available, and if it's occupied, the second closest etc. So that a parked plane on EL4 gets prioritized for CAT 4, then CAT 3, then 2nd in queue for CAT 4, then 2nd queue for CAT 3 or something like that. 5. Could you double check some parking spots (example at the rear of the ship on the 1st parking you get sent to. So next to EL3 at the back, the plane is a little bit over the foul line. Lastly, AMAZING WORK! We are astonished of how polished the deck crew are at such an early stage. Looking forward tocsee where this goes, and as of now, carrier OP's are already 100x more fun than before

Just for the completeness of the tutorial and to all asking themselves (like me) how he changed to area and point track: Press the Sensor Control Switch Towards Selected Display (Right if our right DDI is selected) to toggle between Point Track (PTRK, tracks a moving objectl ike a high-contrast vehicle) and Area Track (ATRK, used for a static target). Matt, is there a way to adjust/move the George AI symbology around in VR? My Quest 3 shows the symbology in the upper right side of the view, with one other ever further up. It’s really weird. Is there a way to select that symbology like the way we can adjust the arm/load option block? Thanks much

new to dcs last sim i flew was flight of the intruder. so i bought thrustmaster hotas but really struggling, i have the standard p51 and the mig that comes with and bought the spitfire, the issue i have is rpm is assigned to the left throttle and i just have a red circle with exclamation mark on the throttle control and cant assign anything. Also any inputs from the throttle on all 3 aircraft don't reach max throttle in the cockpit. any advice would be appreciated

@ I think I may have possibly swapped detent 1 for detent 2 on the trigger. I have the Virpil collective, but see that some buttons aren’t on the collective so I have to use the Virpil throttle or grip. Sooooo confusing. I’ll post when I see if the detents are reversed.

Sadly, I tried everything and same results! I have no idea what the issue could be, but most likely it’s something small……. When I zoom in on the tank in the training scenario, I press the Virpil Alpha trigger to the first detent, I get a lock with the laser and get the large box. I pull the trigger for to the second detent and no missed fires off the rail. When I look at the left MFD it shows the missile goes from AT to AR, I believe. Suggestions? Also, how can we adjust the monocle, the heading tape is so far up on my VR headset I can’t see it. I adjust the Question 3 but nothing works. Is there a way to adjust it in the settings, like moving in the seat?

The elevators are used to move aircraft when deck space is needed. Even in the real world, pilots are not in the cockpit when aircraft are moved between the roof and hangars.

If it is a Case III condition, you must first establish yourself in the stack and only push at your allocated time. You will get the Tilt message when you are too far outside the approach angle.

So odd having a cross as the CCIP impact point, especially when there's a horizontal line coming down through the vertical one, already making a cross. The F-16 circle CCIP icon makes it much more intuitive, besides also delaying the drop point when the icon is out of view below the HUD, automatically turning it into a CCRP kind of mode (a feature the F/A-18 doesn't appear to have, right?)
