The final advice is to break up and destroy a successful second marriage and leave children with yet ANOTHER broken parental relationship to avoid "living in sin". Ok this all works out really well if you haven't been divorced. You can sit there and wave your finger at those who got unlucky like me who's wife divorced me because she decided to pursue women. I tried to reconcile and she was not having it. So I'm supposed to. Be punished for the rest of my life because of something that was completely out of my control? Let's take a look at all of this a different way. Fornication is sex between unmarried people. First of all, what makes someone married in God's eyes? Is it sex? It's it commitment? Is it the legal marriage certificate? When does God consider you to be married? Alot of Christians say when you have sex with someone. If that's the case why is fornication even a thing? Technically if you're married after you have sex with anyone you're married to them and then you're an Adulterer if you have sex with someone else, right? No? OK so then why would anyone ever get married? No binding contract means that you can fornicate all you want until you choose to stop and commit to one person. You don't get married so no convinent, no attachments, then you can ask for forgiveness, perhaps even marry someone after you've had all your fun. Oh that's not the way it works? Why not? I could have chose not to marry and just fornicate and not be punished for life by having a failed marriage. Oh so I can remarry so long as my wife is no longer living? Good. I'll hire a hit man to bump her off, ask God's forgiveness for murdering her, then move on to marry someone else. I'll sin only once by commiting murder vs. Everytime I have sex with someone else other than my ex. What did Jesus die for? Did he not die for our sins? Oh but adulterous relationships are reoccurring unrepentant sin, right? How is that different than sinning everyday with other sins that you commit without giving them a second thought? Sin is sin right? The weight of the sin is determined by its natural consequences, not by God. God sent Jesus to die to pay for His wrath against sin. So what am I saying? There are big translation errors in these passages of scripture, especially the NIV! Plus preachers are reading from the Bible with no context. However it seems that nobody wants to hear another side of this because so many Christians are self righteous and take this dogmatic view, and move on. Those of us who were divorced against our will are looking for someone to make this dogmatic view that we've been taught make sense. Let's finally make it make sense. They had no idea that Jesus was leaving in Matt 24 thus they were not asking about his second coming. Luke tells us in Acts 1 that the Angels told then not to be troubled. That this same Jesus would return in life manner. Prior to this they had no clue Jesus was going to be hung on a cross and raise from the dead. This in Matt 24 they were NOT asking about his second coming. Context is king. In Matt 24 Jesus is speaking to his contemporary audience NOT us. He was telling THEM signs to look for. He told THEM not one stone would be standing. It is this which Jesus is talking about and was talking to those of his day not our day. He told THEM to flee to the mountains when they seen Jerusalem surrounded by Roman armies. They did as Jesus said and fled from Judea to Pella. Matt 24 is not written to us nor about us. It was about the original audience Jesus was speaking to.

Good sermon but the preacher is wrong about the Sabbath. God rested the seventh day as an example for all mankind. Adam and Eve would have kept the Sabbath. It isn’t commanded in Genesis but it’s implied. God gave them an example of rest to follow. God doesn’t need rest but he I new people would. It’s also not just rest from work but a special time to remember and contemplate what God has done. Resting from our works on the sabbath is an acknowledgment that our works cannot save us.
