Weasel-Tech is still my top choice for an anime mecha game experience because like all mecha anime, it's as much about the characters and their out of combat interactions as it the fast paced brutal combat. It's focus is solo/coop, it's miniatures agnostic geared towards smaller 12mml15mm aesthetics like Heavy Gear, most everything is procedurally generated, and the social system generates interactions between your commanders, support staff, and pilots to give you a very personal lived in experience.

I always find myself coming back to these videos when I'm getting back into Infinity, both the wargame and the TTRPG, the history of Dawn is just very interesting and your coverage is very fun and digestible. I know you're probably busy making an N5 video by now, which is fantastic, but maybe someday you could do some lore roundup videos to act as quick overviews of the old edition lore for new and returning players, yeah? I'm looking for a chance to buy the N5 lore book but i think it would be great for people who cant drop $300 on a moments notice to pick up all the old edition and campaign books.

Blkout being made by Vets seems to show. Limit of advance, converging fields of fire, fast and brutal...I appreciate bringing battlefield tactics and creating rules for a slick looking game like this!

Referring to Gestalts, I always assumed they were just regular humans? It would make sense for the Nation to not want to refer to them as just "humans" and make the Replikas feel lesser than (even though they totally were treated as such). I always assumed it was just a nicer way of saying "the ACTUAL humans"

I‘ve had a look at the rules and although I like some of the concepts, the one design choice I‘m not sure about is the fact that the armies start so close to each other. Mike said he finds the first turns in other games boring and wanted units to get into combat as quick as possible. Personally I love the opening turns! - jostling for position, trying to outmaneuver the opponent. To me that is the core of this type of game - once units are in combat it is just rolling dice. Having said that, the flexible basing requirements means trying it out is easy, as I already have ready to go armies, so I‘ll still give it a try.

Witch From Mercury was so good, until they realized that it only had 4 episodes left and rushed through the final arcs. I overall still loved the series. It's what got me into Gundam after all, but I so wish it got a full 50 episodes. The universe had so much potential and to see it get cut off before it could reach that full potential just breaks my heart. Hopefully this will get the Seed treatment and get some sequels. (i'm huffing copium)

Haven't dug too far into this video or subject yet but I'm wondering if something relatively particular exists: Is there a game or ruleset that allows for customizing and battling 144 scale mech models? I imagine taking pieces from standard HG Gunpla kits and loading them out with statted up bits from other models or 30-minute missions type modular kits before sending them into ground or space combat against other players. Bonus points for games that use or could use Battletech's frame-damage and pilot health mechanics. Does anything like this exist? I've got an itch.

I remember in 2016, when the last Battletech group at my flgs disbanded, I was positive the game was dead. Then 2018's HBS Battletech video game got enough interest for a few people to come back for me to play with. Then CGL started their new resculpts and the Clan Invasion kickstarter's success, MechWarrior 5, and the Mercenarie's kickstarter. Now there's enough Battletech players that there's two different groups that formed, one playing on Fridays at one flgs and one playing on Saturdays at the other flgs. We have more players than the local 40k group and every now and then more people come wanting to play due to enjoying the video games.

Man, Hobgoblin is good stuff. Currently I've repurposed my Tomb Kings of Khemri to make an army, and my first army was built using miniatures modeled off of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. (Tim the Enchanter was my artillery, the Black Knight with the narrow keyword was heavy infantry, good stuff) A trick I like to make the Chart easier is open it in Adobe, highlight the rows I need for my specific units, then print it off.

Setting is one thing the system is another. I buy a game for the rules because without them the setting is for me largely irrelevant. Also as it seemed much of the selling point of the rules aside from the setting was their potential to allow us to game with armies etc from other systems, settings etc. But by the end of it I was none the wiser on whether it would be worth it.

@@WarLore He has a point but keep in mind that this video imo provides a very good listening experience. Rules overviews are clinical and dull, and people with little wargaming experience (like me), will find it hard to follow along. I think this video is excellent.

nah man this game rips, it's bloody as hell. shit dies constantly. you just get to use your units and you don't spend as much time looking up rules since most abilities are passives or triggered rather than activated abilities.

It sounds more like a game by someone who played Warhammer for 20+ years and although they love the setting and minis, they have come to realise that the rules are convoluted, tedious, and outdated.
@vthesnail2 ай бұрын
I like how the setting is simultaneously a sandbox meant to field any type of army in, but also very unique and just its own thing. That’s a sign of really good setting building.
@azogtheuglee48892 ай бұрын
I really like the cave-world idea of Rotvalden but all the races they mention being the Warhammer Races is a bit disappointing to me, especially because I love everything else. Though in a game like this making a different race your army is the easiest thing in the world. Just seems like the creator was fully expecting people to use old Warhammer Fantasy armies.
@azogtheuglee48892 ай бұрын
I really like the Gods though, I like how they aren't just Gods from the Warhammer pantheons but their own thing. I especially love how the God of space is the most powerful but dangerous one. Like a god of empty space is a god of holes, very important in a cave-society. But it's power could very easily grow far larger than the caverns.
@WarLore2 ай бұрын
I agree with that, I'd have liked some other weirder ideas. HOWEVER, the abyssal gods are really interesting. As you say, they embody things you'd see within the concept of "caves" and "underground." Void represents so much more in the cave context, for example, same as "webs" or "growth'!

Nice summary of the Hobgoblin world. Now I need to read the fluff in the back of the book. It is a fun game. I cut some unit trays and hot glued a bunch of random minis down. A 3,000 point army of undead and a 3,000 point army. Of living foes. Played with my 11 year old son. His first war game and he loved it. (Probably because he beat me….. :😢). Now I’m digging through my. Shelf of shame to break the living army. Into several distinct armies: dwarves (now I get to use the pig calvary), saurians, goblins/orcs, humans, elves….). Really fun because it moves quick.
