Thanks for the video. Trying to decide on a filter for an f2 22mm lens and deciding how many stops I'll need. I live in the southwest aka basically desert haha

In addition to the HDMI emulators I suggested, to get a clean HDMI feed from a Canon C300 Mark II cinema camera: 1. Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the camera. Ensure that the other end is connected to the device you are using to capture the feed, such as a monitor, recorder, or computer. 2. Turn on the camera and access the menu settings by pressing the MENU button. 3. Navigate to the "Setup" menu, which is represented by a wrench icon. 4. In the "Setup" menu, go to the "Output Config" option. 5. Within the "Output Config" menu, select the "HDMI" option. 6. In the "HDMI" menu, you will find various settings related to the HDMI output. Here are some important settings to adjust: a. "Output Resolution": Choose the desired resolution for the HDMI output. Select the resolution that matches the capabilities of your capture device. b. "1080p 1:54 /720p Output": Set this option based on the requirements of your capture device. If your device supports 1080i, select "1080i." If it supports only 720p, select "720p." c. "Output Display": Choose whether you want to display the camera's LCD information on the HDMI output or have a clean feed without any overlays. Select "Off" for a clean feed. d. "Time Code": Decide whether you want to include the camera's timecode in the HDMI output. If you want a clean feed, select "Off." e. "HDMI Rec Control": This option determines whether you want to control the recording start/stop function of an external device connected via HDMI. Choose the appropriate setting based on your requirements. 7. Once you have adjusted the necessary settings, exit the menu by pressing the MENU button. You should now have a clean HDMI feed from your Canon C300 Mark II cinema camera, without any overlays or unnecessary information. Note: The specific menu options and layout may vary slightly depending on the firmware version of your camera.

What's the best ND filter for desert photography that highlights the texture of sand and mountains or enhances the sky?
@tworiversworkshop6111Ай бұрын
Hi Griffin and thank you for this video. I know you also have the GH5S, so if you were making a narrative film for a festival to be shown to an audience on a cinema screen and if you could only work with one camera, would you choose the GH5S or the GH5ii? The footage will be recorded on the Atomos Ninja in ProRes 4:2:2 10Bit. Thanks.

Griffin that is a great achievement, well done! I see you are wearing ear buds, are they Apple or another make, reason I ask, mine fall out when I jog! sad I know, so if you can let me know about yours, would be much appreciated. All the best from the UK.

Thank you so much! For years, I've run in the original form factor Apple AirPods (1st or 2nd Generation, not Pro). They stay nicely in *my* ears, though that may not be everyone's experience. You may need an over-the-ear-solution instead.

What about running on a track?
@GriffinHammond2 ай бұрын
Running on a track *can* be an issue, when GPS tends to cut corners. That's why some watches, including my Apple Watch Ultra (that I run with in 2024) try to identity when I'm running on a track. (It asks me which lane, so it can track my meters appropriately.)

these videos have crossed into the sacred threshold of 'comfort watching' there is no reason for me to be watching this in 2024. i shoot sony and probably always will. but that doesn't matter, because i am, above all, comfy.

Anyone else randomly missing the camera icon in video mode mentioned at 9:16 and know how to get it back?
@pensive_3 ай бұрын
One of the greatest instruction videos ever on youtube. Helped me a LOT thanks! Just a pity the GH4 doesnt have profiles as you can set this camera up in so many ways, and it would have been nice to switch from Cinema setup to something else by just selecting a profile. I have been a Canon user for decades and recently Black Magic, and I must say since the GH4 came out, I was blown away by Panasonic cameras. It is the ONE camera that does almost everything right. Amazing! Sooo much easier to use than my black magic cameras, but the magics have superior well-depth so they go nowhere. Panasonics now replaces my Canons.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get rid of the noise on the GH5S. No matter what Photo style or dual native ISO settings I shoot at, I always get a distinct noise. And it doesn’t matter whether I’m shooting indoors with low light or outdoors during the day - there is always noticeable noise in the shadows. At native or maximally low, at any ISO, there is still noise. On the Internet there are stunning videos of the city at night shot on the GH5S, with ISO 6000 and 10000 and so on, but I don’t understand how this is possible, because my camera makes noise in the shadows even at about native ISO in daylight. I would be very grateful if you could tell me what could be the matter. Perhaps I don’t understand something, there are some settings or maybe there is always noise, it’s just removed in post-processing, but for a week now I can’t figure out what’s wrong. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

What is 10 bit 4.2.0 then?
@GriffinHammond3 ай бұрын
So 10-bit is the color depth, the number of variations each pixel could possibly be. 4:2:0 refers to the "chroma subsampling"-the number of pixels where color is actually recorded. (Watch the 1:20 part of the video.) 4:2:0 means that for every two rows of four pixels each, the top row records color data for two of the pixels, and in the lower row, zero pixels record color data (just luminance).
@aaronteh64913 ай бұрын
@@GriffinHammond I did watch your video fully hahaha but am still unsure which one I should be concerned with when doing heavy color grading? On one hand I have 10 bit colors but 4.2.0 sub sampling? I really do appreciate you taking the time! Thank you!
