Locking dogs into crates counts as animal abuse in Sweden and is a criminal offence. Blocking this channel, cant look at it 😢

I have one and the toilet training took 5 months so that’s definitely something to consider when getting a dachshund. They bark all the time. Incredibly needy and want to be on your lap all the time. Some people may not like this.

Just for the fact you had to talk to family and friends before making up your mind tells me your not competent enough to make your own decisions, Grow up and make you`re own choices. All you talk about are talking points from every other video out there. The only problem are dog owners. Training dachshund`s is not hard. I have had them for 50 years, Never had a problem training them. You`re dog clearly knows they are the Alfa in the relationship. Dogs sense weakness. There back is not that frail, You make it sound like their back`s are made of tissue paper.

I have a sweet mini girl and she is amazing! No cons. She was easy to train because I spent tons of time with her. I did the same research and have done everything in my power to keep her healthy. 🎉 she is the cutest and literally the best Christmas present ever!❤

Thanks for this video! I am adopting my first mini dachshund puppy in 2 weeks and it is good to hear from a real owner that has experienced the first few days with a new puppy. It was nice to see this also, rather than just advice from professionals who might not have the same emotional aspect, like wanting to let them out when they cry.

Not all Dachshunds bark a lot I had 5 of them chihuahuas bark even more. I don’t agree with any of the cons you listed

You mentioned crate training - why? Crate training is so old school! You should not have puppies or any animals! Disgusting!

I just got a sweet mini dachshund puppy. She is 9 weeks old. We are trying to crate train and her and I watched video and had a couple of questions. Did you take Stella outside to potty or was she pad trained until she was fully vaccinated? Until she was completely potty trained did you keep her in her crate and take her out only to play and potty? How did you prevent accidents in the house if not? Our little Ellie is a very vocal little girl and she hates to be alone.

They are great companions that's why have 4 right now. In the past 17 years we have fosterd over 30 and have adopted 12. Most have lived to 16 or 17 years old and our most beloved was paralize for 13 years and lived to be 17. I would however recommend getting one from a rescue and not a breeder as there are plenty that need homes. All the ones we have cared for over theses years were loving sweet souls and most were seniors that were surrendered or abandon. So many wind up in shelters because people don't understand the breed and their purpose. Their traits are flaws to some people. But their tenacity it's their best trait, they don't give up and they're eagar to please, when they want.

Less of a guard dog - more of an alarm 🚨 dog. They will let you know if anyone is nearby. I agree with everything else you have said 😊
@trollsmasher4395 ай бұрын
You should really start walking your dachshund puppies at around 6 months old in places where they can run, jump, and chase varmints off leash. This is crucial to developing strong back muscles that will support their backs when they get older. Their backs are unnaturally elongated through selective breeding and will go out on them around 10-12 yrs old if you don't let them exercise and do what they were bred to do. Take them someplace where they can run freely and chase rabbits, birds, squirrels, etc. under supervision away from cars and traffic. I have raised dachshunds all my life and have had many dachshunds over the years and have only had one dog to have a minor back injury at age 15. My dogs live to be 18-20 yrs. A special high protein diet of raw meats and certain veggies will double the life span of your dog. Processed dog foods will cut the lifespan of your dog in half.
